Morning all...

Pineapple express started dumping very heavy rain yesterday and will continue through today and maybe tomorrow. Nothing like the snow storm hitting some of you but these storms are something. Its' when we get a storm coming out of California with warm temps and very wet. Only during La Nina years.

This preface is to say that I may, or I may not, get out for a workout. Feel better than yesterday so hope to do something.

Alex, is the heavy snow continuing where you are?

Jebba, how long is your streak?

Dan--sounds like just lovely weather.

It's Sunday, so fishbowl for me. Usual 2500m, plus 250 walk for a CD. Had hoped to head out for an easy spin. But... what started as rain this morning has turned to snow. That heavy wet not quite snow stuff. I think I'll sit in front of the fireplace instead!

Me -- 37 degrees here and still. Haven't run since Tuesday, so I need to get out there for a few.

Sorry about all the cold snowy weather. I don't mind that weather though. It has been in the 40's all week with rain a few days ago. I would much rather take the snow. Nothing for me today. Maybe some stretching at some point today. Have a great morning everyone.

Dan-snow is done for now, now the cold sets in. A low of -18, so I've heard possibly -40 with wind chill. And I guess the Metrodome roof collapsed lol. We'll see what happens again today; right now I'm being a big baby.

Kevin - Have a great Sunday

Rob - Get out there bud.

BBS - Sorry for the cold and the shift. That is cold for Tennesse

4boys - Least ya got a good swim in. Stay warm

Did 30 minutes of 3 run 3 walk. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Felt ok but it always does while I'm doing it. 25 mph Southerly winds so the first half was heavy rain blowing straight at me. Soaked in 10 minutes. Scary part was the sound of widow makers crackin and falling around. Too many big long branches hanging out over the road. Thought the roads folks were supposed to have gotten those by now. Had to stop and help one woman move a branch out of her driveway so that she could get to work. Definitely a football day if the power stays on.

Well, it's been an odd morning around these parts.

I had planned to do a club 10k race this morning. Nice setting on the C&O Towpath in Maryland, a sweet 10:30 am start, what could possibly go wrong? How about 2 cars flipping over on the Beltway just before the bridge crossing from VA? The road basically got shut down and I got stuck in that and eventually gave up when it was clear I would not make it to the park in time for the start.

So I turned around, headed back home, and hit the trails instead for roughly 12 rainy, windy, sloppy miles. Despite the conditions I saw quite a few other runners out there, plus a cool wildlife sighting - an egret, standing in the stream no doubt waiting for some unsuspecting hapless fish to come along. At times I questioned the decision to stay in my racing shorts and not switch to long pants...but then if I had they just would have gotten soaked and cold anyway. I told myself Loopy would probably be proud of me.

It wasn't too bad most of the way through the woods but when I came back out onto streets for the final two miles the rain picked up, and so did the wind. Then with a mile to go the rain turned to sleet. Lovely.

Oh well, sometimes you gotta take what life gives you. Considering what happened on the Beltway my problems this morning were pretty trivial.

Happy running and whatever else all. Sounds like December weather is everywhere today.

8.5 miles on the mill this afternoon. The Bears "game" (aka Pats easy practice) was on that that almost made me want to stop and go flying off the back. Anyway, after a 0.5 mile warmup I had to hop the the adjacent TM and then did 8 @ 7:30mpm. It's getting colder by the second here. I haven't run outside in a couple of weeks. No plans to break the TM habit any time soon - just don't have the motivation to freeze my ass off, although that is often better than the TM.

Last night went into the big smoke to watch UFC with some friends. Very icy on the way home.. white knuckle ride. Some taxis (go figure) were mounted on the raised median.
