Hello all.

Race today.Inaugural Pikes Peak Road Ascent. This race goes up the Pikes Peak Highway from the toll gate to Geln Cove, just over halfway to the summit. Pretty much uphill the entire way except for a short area of down around the 5 mile point. Let the early people burn themselves out in the first few miles, then began picking them off by maintaining a steady running motion. Worked well and I finished as 7th overall male and 2nd in Masters, plus won my AG by over 12 minutes. Had lots of fun. This was way less difficult than the Ascent up the trail to the summit last week, but still very much a challenge. Not a huge number of racers this year, but I think once the word gets out about this race it will be much bigger.

Off to Utah tomorrow to setup the Footwear department in a new store. Not sure if I'll have internet.

Warm/mid 60s at start, mid 50s at finish - Mostly sunny and light wind. Pikes Peak Road Ascent. Up the road from the toll booth to Glen Cove. Almost unrelenting uphill with a very short down at about 5 miles. Maintained a good running motion throughout and ended up passing about 5 guys in the last mile. Good race. Any top 10 at my age is great!

Opted to add my Saturday 30 minute bike to the hour bike I had as a substitute for my cancelled oly race today. So 1.5 hours on the trainer during the storm watching the movie Shooter with Mark Wahlberg. Awesome movie! Would recommend it for sure.

When the storm cleared the hubster and I went out for a 45 minute run through the neighborhood looking at downed branches and was amazed that Wilming had cleared all the downed trees by 6 p.m. last night. Impressive clean up I thought.

Watched a kids Duathlon on Saturday that my 11 y.o. nephew competed in at the location for my sunday cancelled oly. Those kids were so cute I smiled the whole way home. He even smiled when racing and despite his nerves came in 3rd overall.

Sounds like all had some good racing and training this weekend despite whatever weather conditions were in the area.
