Not a long workout today, but an important one. After several ocean swim fails, finally got out there today and swam. With my face in the water and everything. It took some time to get into the water, but once I did, it was basically ok. Didn't go long...maybe a few hundred yards, but that was a good place to be. As I got out of the water, all I could think of was our dear Bonnie...the September race is my Angel Race and I'm going to get out there on 9/11 and do this for Gustav.

A big mental win today - after a lack luster week I went out and did 9 miles alone. I haven't run that far without a group in a LONG time and I think it was exactly what I needed to do. Think I'm going to lose my first toenail, though I'm really hoping not!

Don - Mr. Consistency, good job!

36 mile ride. Tried to hang with a true bike weenie for a bit - managed 4-5 miles of pain - but good pain. Also had an adrenaline boost trying to outrun a thunderstorm home. Failed by about 2 miles .... and I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for that damned draw bridge (a bit scooby-doo there).

Ditto Sparty about your swim, Jen. Way to conquer your doubts, and for a good cause as well (virtual hug to Bonnie). I'm sure angels will be out there on 9/11.

Road ~41 miles with some friends. Headed out thinking only about getting ~28 miles done, so happy I felt like I could do more. Haven't been on my bike for a couple of weeks and it kind of felt like it.

Ran out of Zyrtec Friday night and my allergies are *really* bugging. Got some drugs today and am hoping for improvement soon!

Attempted to beat my PR set last year for my Ridgefield Ride, but missed it by 4 lousy seconds. It's tempting to think I could have pushed just that much harder somewhere along the way, but I finished feeling pretty barfy so I know I gave it a good shot.

Had a 3 mile brick run planned, too, but even after spending a couple minutes with my head under the cold faucet the best I could manage was a mile of easy running and a mile of wogging back home. Mid-80's is hot for us, dammit!!!

Got out for a couple hours on the Cross bike. 1:10 off road, 0:50 on road. Confidence is growing exponentially. Still need to figure out dealing with moving around in massive mud but I'm getting there. Time in the mud bank so to speak. Mud was followed by pea gravel which made for nice little projectiles stuck to my bike for a long time after!
