10 mile race in 1:03:56 (6:24 pace)

Ran the local Perfect 10 Miler race. A good field, with about 600 runners. Nice road course through city streets. Looking at my recent training and last race, I thought I would run about 6:35s and see how far I could hold it. Turns out, I had a little gas left in the tank at the end. The rain helped more than it hindered. It sort of felt like fall marathon weather today.

My only other 10 mile race was years ago. More recently, in my best-ever HM (2005) I split 10M in about 1:05:3x. So today's result is a PR and a performance that falls in the 54 VDOT range. My VDOT improved since last race, and its apparent that the longer the race, the better I am.

Now only 7 weeks to go to goal marathon race.

Good runs, all.
