Good morning!

I can't wait to hear how Hawk's race went.

Yep, I was already running at 6:30 am. Got 16 miles in, 8:25 average pace. Sub-8's in there and a lot of 8:10-8:15's which means ... I'm on the comeback trail. yay. Just in time to finish out my training for Philly.

Check out chances trademarking his coffles! Hope you had a good run.

Wow, BBS, must be a popular race to fill up so quickly. That, and/or the field limit was pretty small. I'm eyeing my first 50k in March (I hope.)

Good morning vash, how was your run?

Race is done, just chillin' out at the beer truck. Mich Ultra at 9:40 am, breakfast of champs.

Tough day today. First mile greeted us with a big downhill and I got out way too fast in 6:18 then paid the price. (He course was about 90% on concrete too which didn't do me any favors. Started developing a calf cramp in Mile 12 which turned the last 2 miles into a "just please don't blow up on me" bargaining session to the finish. 1:32:06 - a full 3 minutes off my PR.

I'm beginning to think that after NYC I should take the rest of 2010 off. Not sure what's up, but my body is clearly not recovering the way it should be this fall. And I'm nowhere near my performances of last fall or earlier this year. Probably should have taken time off in the summer, but that's water under the bridge now.

At least it's a great day outside.

Just got done watching the Rock and Roll philadelphia half marathon online. Ryan Hall I guess was running a marathon pace race and finished in 1:03:?? for 12th. On the womens side Shalane Flanagan was 4th overall.

No running for me today I need the normal Sunday rest anyway. Have a great day everyone.

Hawk - Sorry it wasn't your best day. Some rest sound like a good idea. Meanwhile, could you pass a brew over to Rob and me?

Jill - Glad to hear the mo is back in your jo. Nice running

Rob - Sensible eh? We'll see!

BBS - A Dec marathon and a Jan 50K? You da man!

42 humid sweaty minutes. Went a little farther than I should have but wanted to test how I feel tomorrow. Each little bit of longer run sure feels good regardless the price I pay.

As per girl problems...not really any problem, more of just one less thing for me to worry about. I was showing interest in getting to know this girl, but at the same time we both have super busy schedules. Then she said I ignore her all the time, so I said it wouldn't work out. I'm leading an athlete Bible study group, trying to involve underclassmen in lots of stuff, and doing psychology research along with running, 3x a week weightlifting, and homework, so I decided I'd keep myself from unneeded stress and just be single for a while longer. Then she proceeded to try and make me feel like an ass, so I was glad to be done with girls for a while.

101mins today...very progressive for first 7 or 8 miles...then really picked it up for the next 3 miles or so. Easy running the last 20mins. Nice and sore now. Off to the library for some reading and the tiny amount of homework I have left. I couldn't believe that I was actually academically productive yesterday!

GREAT job today so far folks...rest up from those races, runs, and volunteering and have a great week!

LOL. I had 3 of them. The first one tasted great, the next two...diminishing returns.

I have some Yards in the fridge at home (Jill can attest to the quality of Yards).

Well, I was up at 4:30 and running the CARA Ready to Run 20 at 6:30. We had great weather and I felt good. Some tighteness in the ole hip flexor (old 2008 issue) and ankle (2010 issue). Anyway, I managed m-pace for the last 10 miles finishing with a 6:58 and 6:49 to finish in 2:29:33. The course was long by 0.3 miles. Mile 7 was the culprit. Bonus miles! Got stretched out afterwards before hoping on the bus back to north side. Note that the course runs the entire length of the Chicago Lakefront path norh to south. Pretty cool.

Hawk - Bummer about the race and beer situation. They had Goose Island 312 this morning but the city doesn't let them serve it until 11am! Boo-hiss. I was home by then. You need my 2XU calf sleeves... a bit dorky looking but all the rage. Works for me. I got them after my right calf spasmed a few times in the closing miles of Chicago last year. I'll be dialing it back after Chicago too. Maybe.

Dan/Jebba - good job on getting out there

Alex - girls are trouble! But sometimes you need a little trouble...

BBS - 50k. Are you nuts? Find a HM or something.

kfuller - thanks for the spoiler! " class="bbcode_smiley" height="1" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies//wink.gif" title="" width="1" /> Rest up.

Jill - it's good to be back, huh?

Chances - how'd the 22 treat you?

Jill-forgot to address your question. Kenyan runs are our staple strength workout in cross country. Basically just progressive runs of 4-5 miles with at least some of them at race pace(8k) or faster. If I ran my pace for them I think I was supposed to go 5:55, 5:45, 5:35, 5:25, and like 2:40 for the last 800m.

John-great job!

Wow, everyone. Great job. Special kudos to you, RA -- great pace there, buddy.

22 Went well. 7:31 average. Started in the 8:10s and finished in the 7:10s, with the last two splits at 7:06 and 6:00. Then a nice 9:45 cooldown with my boys. 23 total.

Bring on the taper.

Flyby as I wait for the pizza to finish baking... BUSY weekend!!! Found my friend at the finish of the woman's tri. I knew only her screen name and that she was wearing an OSU shirt. From there, son1 and I worked the kids races (7-10 and 11-14). Quick break for a swim, then off to work the Elite race. Today we both raced. Results won't be posted until tomorrow, but both are very happy with our efforts out there today.

Good job today Hawk. Even if if wasn't exactly what you wanted, you still ran great. Concrete would be so hard to run on! I don't envy you for that. Maybe switching things up for a year will be good for you. You can always meet up with me on the trails somewhere ... just sayin'. Maybe we can twist loopy's arm into something longer than his Blues Cruise 50k.

"Each little bit of longer run sure feels good regardless the price I pay."
vash - I often feel the same way.

jebba, I am so glad to see you getting back into things! Now we just need to scramble up a sistergoldenhair ...

Sounds like a good run, Alex. Thanks for explaining the Kenyan run.

RA - great job today!!

chances, you too. I'm running 22 next weekend but not at that pace. I'll probably throw down some final miles at that pace though. Taper, taper, taper.

4bm, you sound busy!

RA & Chances - awesome long runs, geez talk about fast finishes!

4boys - glad you and ds had a good tri! Look forward to reading about it.

Nice runs and rest everyone else too. Rest day for me - actually I was at the Packers/Bills game in Green Bay. FWIW, I had one Leinenkugel
