Hi Everyone who has much more exciting things to do than to post on this beautiful Sunday.

6.3 hilly miles in the woods, averaging just under 10mm, which is about as good as I could ever do trail running,.......afterwards went on a little hike with Mrs. Johnny. Found a nice little botanical interprative trail about 5 miles from where I've lived the last 20 years. The things you find on the internet tubes.

Awesome race the other day Heme.

How'd the race go HappyFeat??

ETA- I just read through the posts from the week I was away....it took 35 minutes to do this, due to the extremely slow loading of kick....that's probably one of the reasons people are leaving here. I typically look at a half dozen or so web pages a day. All save kick, load in a manner of seconds. This place takes minutes. Worse than dialup.

Thank you for the nice poem HappyFeat.

Yes. No metal during surgery. So no bellydancing for the week either. ;)

I didn't make the video (though I'm in it). The friend I ran with got more of the story, so you'll just have to come to NJ and run with me if you want more.

But not for a couple weeks, though.

Seriously, I'll be writing something up next week, once I've got nothing but resting time on my hands, promise.

Thanks for the good thoughts, all. They really do help.

Rest day for me. Woke up to chirping smoke detectors last night at 2:30 a.m. They never need replacing during the day. Changed all the batteries this afternoon. Will go home after church tonight and mow the yard which didn't get accomplished due to the Beach to Bay relay weekend. Serious training starts again next week. yeehaw..........

Today's Rhody Run 12K was great fun! I love the course. It's a short steep hill and then a mile-long not-as-steep hill after that, followed by rolling hills. It was my second time doing this event and I improved my time over last year by about 5 minutes - probably because I didn't walk up the hill that is mile 3 this time. My average pace was 9:20 mpm, but alot of it is downhill. Last year, I averaged 9:50 mpm. So I've improved my fitness some, but I don't know what my time would be if it was flat - slower I think.

The temp was 50 and overcast, but still by the last two miles, I felt like I was overheating. There was a photographer I didn't see til I was just past him right about when I thought my head would explode about a half mile from the end. Hopefully that won't be the only "action photo" taken of me. I drank all my Heed and ate a couple Shot blocks for the caffeine.

Somehow I gave myself a stomache ache that feels like a sidestitch (on my right side below my ribcage) at home this morning before the race while doing some yoga stretches after having a cup of coffee! I have no idea what I did - twisted something somehow - anyway it only hurts when I take a deep breath. As you can imagine, that hampered me somewhat during the run, but I tried to ignore it. Now at 4:00, it is finally diminishing.

Afterward I ran into a younger gal I met a few months ago who had just started running then - and now she can run over 7 miles! It's amazing really. We were able to exchange phone numbers and will probably do a 4-miler together next week. I'm so pleased about that because I liked her right off when I met her, but never saw her again.

This is all I have time for right now. Hope everyone else had a great day!

Good job on the race, HappyFeat! Nice to see improvement.

Looking forward to that race report, OM!

I ran my last long run today. Well, last long training run, that is. 21.1 miles @ 8:04 avg pace. The last 5 miles were hard, and I figured out later that it's because I got pretty dehydrated out there. I stopped for water at 2 miles, 9 miles and 12 miles, but by 16-17, I was fading fast. Had about 32 oz of water all told and when I got home I was still down 7 lbs. I tell ya, even though the temps weren't that warm (upper 60's, low 70's by the end), it was the 25% humidity that really did me in. Just sucks the fluid right out of you... 3 glasses of chocolate milk and 3 big glasses of water later, I feel much better. Glad that's done, on to taper! Race in 2 weeks...!
