2 hour power hike on the TM<br>
Really freakin boring, but my coach wanted me to do an outdoor hike today. Not in a noreaster. It was actually harder than i thought it would be. Maybe that was the mental aspect of walking on a TM for that long.

Well I better get started on my essay before the power cuts out for 3-4 hours. Once it's off I'm heading out for my run in today's absolutely gorgeous weather. I hope it's this nice by you Flounder!<br><br>

lol, Alex. I have a treadmill PR of 5.5 hours a couple months ago. The TM reset every 100 minutes, i lost track of distance as i varied my speed, but it was at least 30 miles <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"> Good mental training for my 100M race <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>

Not the best of a day for a run. A Noreaster is moving in and while I beat the worst of it, I was still running in a mix of rain and sleet.<br><br>

8 recovery pace outside - beautiful again - high 30s and 10-15 mph winds. I did not even look at my watch - just nice and easy.<br><br>
Hey Alex - Read the race report - Last 5 weeks have been kind to me - 1/2 marathon in 6:14 pace - I have another 20 seconds per mile to get back into last fall shape - Maybe by July 3rd <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif">

Freaking mud!!!<br><br>
I'm a happy camper though. 10 miles on trails. I decided to run on Nose Hill, and since I've been pushing the envelope a little this week (what do I have to lose, really?) I thought to do a hilly workout. Not insane, but hard.<br><br>
Discomfort level never went above 3, and really it backed off in the latter bits.<br><br>
Tough hills in the first mile, between 6 and 6.5 miles (100 feet descent and gain, only to descend into the muck), and in the last mile or so. The rest was rolling terrain. The view of the snow-covered Rockies was worth the price of admission.<br><br>
I felt I could have run another 10. That's what Pfitz's plan called for today, but though I may be crazy I'm not stupid. Ended it while I felt decent and I now go into the regular taper starting Tuesday.<br><br>
That's weird, taper's supposed to be backing off, but this will be a ramp up compared to the last few weeks.<br><br>
I now know that I will get to the starting line in Vancouver. We'll see what the next three weeks tell me.<br><br>
10.11 miles in 1:35 even. Yay!

I told myself I was going to run for 2.5 hours today, and I ended up at 2:30:05 for 19 miles. I had some interesting milestones today.<br><br>
Mile 3: 7:02. I got behind Gags' large pro training group and tailed them for a little while. Good thing it was early in the run.<br>
5k: 23<br>
10k: 46:30<br>
15k: 1:10:15<br>
10M: 1:16<br>
1/2Mary: 1:40:05<br><br>
Then I pretty much just ran until the glycogen and electrolytes were out of my system, just barely hanging on until the 19 mile mark. My worst mile was #17, but I finished relatively strong with an 8:05 for #19. I drank out of a couple of bubblers in the park, but brought no food, drink or salt tabs with me for maximum effect.<br><br>
No more hard runs until the Eugene Marathon, which I'm going to cruise rather than race. Looking forward to racing later this year, hopefully at a lower weight.

Cycling "tempo" workout today. 2 X 10 min sessions at 85-88% effort plus warm-up and cool-down. I was sweating like a pig!<br><br>
