Its a day of rest from running for me, but since my dd isn't going down for a nap, guess we're going for a walk.

I'll just lift some weights.

One of my toes is hurting. Hopefully I can do my eight mile run tomorrow if it stops hurting.

Happy sunny sunday, kids!

Final day in my no-run rotation week:
I was a sissy fairy with my pyramid weights today...upper body was tired/sore/worn out from other workouts. OY!
Had to back off on the poundage and reps. Double-OY!

Then I enjoyed [not really...it's too hot] the 75* temps while hiking [sloshing] the property with sis and the dogs.
We spotted all sorts of migrating waterfowl, as well as signs that the GREAT HORNED is back!! YEEE-HAA! The sandhill cranes were very talky today.

I bow down to you runners.
Your strength and endurance boggle my little peanut mind!!!

16 miles 10:00 pace
cloudy, but mild, day in the park. Lots of people about.

Fell in with someone who has been running the NYC marathon since the mid-70s. It was great to hear his stories as the miles melted away.

After seeing some of your reports, I hardly feel like I did anything. Hiho campsers!

Well I'm schizoid, there's no doubt about it.

18 miles, fastest I've ever done it. Very steady effort despite wanting to pull up from about 15 miles on. In fact, I just kept pushing and had one of my fastest miles as mile 17.

2:40:57. It might have been more than 18, but I shaved .2 off of the total because I didn't trust the Garmin as it lost a signal on a pedestrian underpass and seemed to add some distance.

Now here's the schizoid part. I should be happy, right? A good, solid 18 miler. But the Marathon pace is 8:00, not 8:50, and I'm beat and wanting to quit after 15 miles at 8:50? Yeah, I know I had a "race" yesterday and I should be thrilled with a solid effort. But.

Paranoia is apparently a sign of marathon madness.

*sigh*

Grizzly - There is no comparison of what you can do fully tapered and for Marathon race day. That was a great effort the day after a race.

Trust your training - A long run MP + 50 seconds is kick ass.

4 recovery miles this afternoon for me - It was actually hot - I fear tomorrow I will have DOMS from Saturday - I may have to move the LAT workout to Tuesday.

5K race -- the Bull Run -- put on by my running club this morning. This time I ran solo (DH out of town) and ran a mile warm-up before the race. Finishied in 28:30, pretty good for me considering I'm just starting to get my miles back up again, and I had a tiring 7 miler yesterday. My goal was sub 30 minutes.

It's nice to have the home court advantage; the course was on my regular long run route. And the running club puts on a GREAT race -- we had a yellow ferrari leadin gthe race, chip time, lots of swag and they grilled pancakes in the park at the end, in addition to bagels, fruit and donuts.

Hi! 7 miles on the trails. Awesomely mild weather, lots of mud and sparkling rivulets of water on the trail. I almost lost a shoe at one point!

Yeah, the trails are no longer iced over. Ran a mile warm up then 2 hill repeats, 1.6 miles up to the tower at Sleeping Giant State Park. So total miles was 7.4. I didn't time it but I finally felt good. Lots of mud and water, it was fun!
