Fishbowl for me this morning. They opened the gym late, so I knew I wouldn't ahve time for my full workout before getting kicked out for the swim class. I think I did WU 200, MS 100, 200, 300, 300, 200, 100, CD 300. 41:05. But, I'm thinking I might have missed a set or miscounted. Ah well, it was a great swim!

Waiting for son to get up and moving so we can go ride. He was at church late last night, so he's moving a bit slow...

It's a beautiful day here today. "Carolina Blue" describes the sky and it will be in the 50s. Can't wait to get out for a recovery run in a while.

I may also do a short ride. Nothing that would be a workout. I'm finally getting my bike's flat fixed and know I will want to go for a little spin after that.

Before those things, though, I have a date with my yoga mat.

Richard, your legs are going to go into shock! Enjoy the shorts. Alex have a good one, too.

Good moving your bodies to all today!

I think a rest day for me.. idk yet, we'll see

yesterday I was at state championships watching some friends.. it was 3.5 hours away, so it turned into like a 17 hour day total. I'm spent. it was exciting.. the winning time in the 3000 was 8:30, the 2nd fastest time in the US. for girls it was 9:54.5 something, a new meet record and also the second fastest time in the country this year

pretty exciting man

have a good sunday all

Zach that's awesome....I wish stuff like that was in our area. Well I guess 3.5 hours away isn't really local, but it's cool you got to see some great performances. I'd love to watch the Nike Indoor Nationals 2 mile...it's stacked. 3 or 4 sub 9's expected.

Late night and one too many drinks = a very slow morning thus far... I'm trying to get my butt out the door. I feel like running a 10 miler. Have to see how that pans out.

First the run: 28F and calm at 9am. 5 recovery miles in 40:09. Wanted to run a little longer, but that's all I could get in before yoga. Roads a little better today.

The local running store has a "Yoga for runners" class on the first Sunday of each month. Today was the day, 10am. The instructor, also a runner, did a nice job balancing upper and lower body poses. After warming up in the first half of the class, she concentrated on deeper stretching of the hamstrings and glutes. I feel good, now.

Congrats Alex on your race. You were due for a good one.

Sorry I do not comment to each one here, but know that I find great inspiration from simply reading along. Thanks.

Have good runs and workouts, all.

Got 9 in. Slow but enjoyable. Pushed it the last mile. That's my longest run since my injury. Yea!

Question: Those of you that push it at the end of your long runs, how much of the end do you push it and how much?

Liz - Manhattan till 2 am? Sounds like fun.

Richard - You're a better man than I. I was freezing this morning at 40 degrees with tights.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Well I did the race this morning. I proved myself a big fat liar, and ran it pretty hard. I definitely didn't go 100%, but I'm not sure I could have ran more than 30 seconds (or so) faster if I wanted to anyway.

Ended up 19:04 (I think) on a course that seemed a smidge long. Ended up 26th overall and 11/83 in age group. I didn't want to hurt myself again out there, but I ran by feel and felt good so I pushed it a little. Happy to report that my back is feeling NO ill effects, although my busted thumb is throbbing a lot.

So I'm VERY happy with this performance. Considering I've run only 2.5 miles in the past 22 days, to put in a time that's 1:10 off my PR is pretty darn good. This is a good sign for me physically, and hopefully a good sign for the rest of the season. I think I'm back!

That's awesome Nirvy! Definitely good to hear. Glad to hear about you too Dan. Everyone else who is coming back, best of luck and don't push too hard too soon....recover, rest, shakeout, run, stretch, swim, and bike well!

Ran on Sunday for the first time in a long time for 2 reasons:
1) I was quite short of my mileage
2) and to shakeout my legs

5.5 easy, worked on nose-breathing. Was tough and I probably should've slowed down so it could be easier but after my 9:00 first mile I figured I should go a little harder for some actually aerobic benefit as well. Ended up with 39.9 on the week so another one right at my goal, and I'm pleased since I had 2 days of only 4 miles and on Tuesday only managed 2.4. Did some calculations for February and I averaged 5.57 miles a day, but if you don't count all the Sunday I didn't run on, it goes up to 6.47. My average pace is also dropping that's definitely good news!

Enjoy your day everyone!

Hi all, quick post from my Palm Treo. Will come back later to get caught up on all the posts. I did the 12k this morning and it was HARD. Ended up going 53:49, 3 minutes slower than I did 3 weeks ago. Not surprising after a 21 miler yesterday. Took it as a tempo run and can't complain at all about a 7:13 pace. Despite my exhaustion I still threw in afast finish at the end. Great course to run on, mostly wooded trail. I definitely see training runs here in my future!
