Hey people. I'm looking to get out of Dodge as soon as I can before these kids wake up. Last night my older one threw up in his bed and then later at least made it to the bathroom, and the baby, who sleeps in bed with us, was up at 2, 3, and 4 a.m. arching her back and crying in some terrible pain. I'm guessing it's the rest of her canines coming through.

The race starts at 10 and is about 20 minutes from here:

http://www.stewchase.com/stewchaseroadrace/

Looks like it has a good hill in the middle and some rollers elsewhere, but not too too horrible. Not sure what to look for in terms of pace so I'll just do my best and check in later.

Good ones, all.

Edited to add: I took my clothes out of my room in the dark already so I don't have to go back in there and potentially wake her up. So if the pictures show me with my kid's soccer mittens, and clothes that don't match, you know why.

8 in a bit. Took me forever to wake up this morning and my bod feels yesterday's run. I had decided to push it a little on each hill and incline. Nothing crazy, just pick it up a little. Well, I feeeeeeeeel it this morning. Guess today will be a nice easy run.

Dan- Have a good run
Kfuller- Enjoy the rest, I want to see the Giants win because I don't want to see a team go undefeated (I'm not a fan of either team, though)

Well, rest day here for me. I'll just be hangin around studyin for my 2 exams that I have this week and then watching the superbowl with my boyfriend later.

Another roommate problem arose last night: I was cooking baked ziti for dinner and couldn't find my other oven mitt...well I finally found it shoved behind the microwave with half of it burnt and the exact outline of a burner on it (It had been laying on the burner). No one will fess up to it...its still usable but someone is buying me a new one because they tried to hide it from me instead of just telling me my oven mitt got burnt. I'm really getting sick of my stuff getting damaged/broken and then the two of them/their friends hide it from me, as if I'm not going to figure it out

Megs- I spent 4 years undergrad dealing with roommates so I completely understand where you are coming from. I've had some roommates from hell along the way. Is there anyway you can talk to the landlord or whoever is renting the place out to you? Have you tried talking to these girls explaining how you and your best friend have had enough and that things need to change around there?

Ellen--hubby usually goes to bed before I do. So when I'm packing my gym bag before I go to bed, it's dark, so I have nooooo clue exactly what I'm packing. Frequently, it shows... No doubt you've finished by now. Hope it went well and am looking forward to your RR.

Alan--Good luck!

Megs--welcome to motherhood. Oh, wait--you're dealing with roommates... No advice for you, just sympathy.

I had the hardest time waking up this morning. Managed to drag my carcass out of bed by 6:30, and in the fishbowl by 7:15. Three others in the fishbowl, which is unusual. I ended up lapping one guy about every 4 laps. At about 40mins, I got kicked out because of a swim class. Oh, I could have split a lane with the other guy, but decided I'd rather just quit early.

Very slow transition, then out for a ride. Rode from the gym on a route that I used to ride way back in college. Very enjoyable, although I forgot how many rollers there were! 16.5m, 1:06, 14.9mph.

Quick transition at the van, then off for a run. By this point, I was almost out of gas. I was getting hungry! Decent run anyway. 2.3m, 18:52, 8:12pace.

Now, I'm home and showered. I'm ready for a nap!

4boys - Same here, so hard getting up this morning!

liz - New shoes, big fun!

Phil - Probably in front of the game? Where are your priorities man?

megs - I'd start getting revenge

Well, a new PR this morning! For the SLOWEST 8 miles I've ever run! I was tired but bound and determined to do 8. Back's a bit stiff and aches a little but no big deal ( I hope). Traveling this week so will be a forced cut back week and extra rest.

Liz, sorry about your Giants.

Liz- We've talked to the landlord....the problem is between us until something regarding the lease comes up. My friend and I have talked to them numerous times....they always just lie to our faces, talk over us, and say it won't happen again. The one girl confronted me today and was like yes, I burned your oven mitt but it was an accident and I wasn't hiding it from you because if I was I would have put it in my room not in the kitchen. I put it behind the microwave because I was cleaning up and I was going to tell you about it later.

I think thats a lie, but she agreed to buy me a new oven mitt, so I guess let bygones be bygones?

Haven't made it in here regularly for a while, just got to be too much with the VRAA posts too and limited time to post. Anyway ...

Ellen - enjoy the stewchase, I've heard it's a good race!

Did 13.2 miles running plus another 2 mile walk (4 laps around the neighborhood) as a cooldown. The walking around really seems to help me post long run. Pace for this run was pretty good considering it's got major hills. They're my training hills for the New Bedford Half. They tried to kick my butt today, but I wouldn't let 'em!

Now it's time to shower, clean, cook, and root the PATS on to victory! (sorry Liz, I'm a New Englander through & through.)

Well, looks like everyone is already up and at 'em this morning. Not me. I got up later than I wanted to (11:00 am) and now I'm waiting a few before I head out to do my 22 miler. I will no doubt make it home just in time to watch the game, which is flipping fantastic!

Jen- I understand. Gotta stick to your roots. As long as you're not a Red Sox fan JK nice run this morning.

Tonya- Enjoy your 22, the Pats, and your new sneakers

Megs- Good luck with that whole situation. I guess the only thing to do at this point is hope that they will grow up a bit? May be waiting a while though lol Enjoy your day off.

Dan- May the best team win. Hoping for an exciting game, though! Sounds like your back can use the rest this week.

4boys- Great job getting it all done nice and early. I wish I could push myself out the door that early.

Phil, Kfuller, Alex, and Richard- Enjoy your rest days!

Good luck to all the racers!

I'm really going to run my 8 now I swear...

New thread for me! I've been pretty much focused on the VRAA and not looking at the other options. Well, the VRAA is quickly coming to an end so the daily posts there will be ending (at least until another VR takes off).

I didn't have any difficulty getting out of bed this morning. The dogs actually let me sleep in an hour later than normal. I still had to wait for daylight to get out and do my 18 miles. I missed several days this week thanks to traveling, long work days, and a sick dog and sick hot tub.

I went out on the Stones River Greenway in Nashville. There is a section of the greenway that isn't completed but it is runnable. I got through that section and discovered that they had finally opened up about 4 more miles of the greenway. No more climbing over barricades! Now they just need to finish the foot bridge over the Cumberland River and it will add another 8 miles!

I will need to get a nap in this afternoon before the game. I don't have a favorite in the game. When I don't have a favorite, I usually pull for the underdog. If the Giants can keep up their away game streak - they will pull off an upset!

Lots of action today... something about a football game...

I hit the TM since I didn't fancy being a hood ornament by running on the local roads (sidewalks and bike path too snowy). I was feeling like crap on the way over but once I got moving the run was so easy. Ended up with a total of 10.25 miles with a progression up to my HM race pace (6:48 mpm). Averaged 7:35 mpm including WU and CU. HR averaged 130. Heck, I didn't get into Z3 until 3 miles. I think the rest day helped... I'm feeling good about my HM.

Can't wait to here the race reports... everyone else; great runs / enjoy the rest day.

As for the SB... I'm not a fan of either team but, if I had to pick a team, I'd go with the Pats just to witness an undefeated season. Should be a great game.

Back from my 8 miler. I do a variety of short loops near my house incase I need to shed clothing/grab water, which today I didn't need to do. First 3.4mi loop in 26:43 (avg 7 51), second loop was 25:53 (7:36avg) and then a little 1.2 mile easy cool down for a total of 8.01 in 62:47 (7:50 avg pace for the whole thing). This i by far the fastest I've ever run 8 miles so I'm psyched! Was trying to keep the pace at about 8-8:15 pace but for some reason my legs hurt when I TRY to run slower. Weird? Once I start getting tired I actually start speeding up to get it over with haha. Can't wait till I race a 5k again it's been almost 4 months since I last raced and I think I'm improving slowly, but surely.

Trecker- I'm relatively new to the thread myself, just thought I'd say welcome to a fellow newbie And because you're pulling for my team. Sounds like a great run you had this morning

Now on to SB!

19.96 miles in 2:56:52 (excluding water stops). The temps were in the low 50s and sort of humid. My last long run before the Breast Cancer Marathon.
