Wow I'm tired...I better take a nap after work. Maybe I'll get a lil' snowshoeing in later today as well. Probably should work on school work as well.

Later.

about to head out for my typical easy sunday. i always use my sundays an recovery and enjoy running day, so usually a really really easy 50-hour. gonna try out the treadmill today. it's nice out, but my dad runs on the treadmill and I've always struggled to. It's not the boredom, it just feels really weird and the pace feels much faster than it is. But I want to learn how to do it so I can run "with" my dad on some days. So we shall see how that goes

Morning

Hey Alex, good luck on whatever you probably maybe do today

Back's feeling particularly good today (crosses fingers, knocks on wood). Still going to ride the bike today and tomorrow. Tuesday I'm going to start combining how ever far I feel comfortable running with the bike for an hour to hour and a half workout and gradually increase the running and decrease the bike. May keep the bike one day a week for crosstraining.

In spite of my injury I'm quite pleased with my training this year and am looking forward to another strong year in 08. Many kudos to all of you for all your hard work and all of your incredible support.

Hopefully we'll hear from EQ soon, posting on his mileage PR!

10 miles this morning with my friend Vogelmd (some of you may remember him from the CH). We did a whole bunch of hills, because hills build character! Great run, I'm sad we probably won't run together again until after he runs Boston (his training pace is my 5k race pace).

hit up the treadmill with my dad as planned. now i'm at work at a running shoe store, a quite spendid job for a college student. Went wicked easy as planned, 7.3 in an hr so around 8:15 pace. trying to get used to the treadmill, very much so wish I was outside. I made it though, it wasn't the boredom, just feels weird. I was able to relax and fall into a rhythm were it felt amazingly easy like it was supposed to, but I felt like my legs were a lot more pounded. Yesterday was a pretty quick 18 so i'm gonna take one more easy day tomorrow I think. Mileage will be up, i'll prob run 11, but more like 7:30-8 min pace as opposed to 7 flat-7:30. hit 92 for the week even with an easy 7, so that was quality. should be somewhere between 95 and 100 for miles next week. building up that base

Jen - Nice run. You know, we really should try a run together. I'm the anti-VogelMD - your pace would push me!

xcrunner3113 - dreadmills are a necessary evil if you plan to do any serious winter training. Good pace for that run.

RichardC - Winter running is the best; I love those 17 degree temps!

I did 9.2 miles this morning. I can explain the extra .2 thusly:
About 2 miles in, I suddenly needed to use the bathroom. I was looking for a good place in the knee-deep snowy woods to duck in, when I spied a new home under construction up ahead with a port-o-potty at the end of a long, muddy driveway! Sweet! It even had toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Life is good. The rest of the run was great.

Arrojo - good thing you're quite observant and know how to use your surroundings.

OKay I'm gonna make myself go take a npa and then later this afternoon I'm gonna head to the park and do some 3/4 mile loops in the snowshoes...probably will go 4-5 miles or so. Or at least hoping to.

Dan--glad to hear the back is doing better. You are smarter than me, though. I'd be out there as soon as the pain was tollerable!

Jen--I have plenty of character, thank you very much! You can keep your hills!

Arrojo--I figure if a POJ isn't locked, it's fair game! I bicycled through all four pregnancies so I knew where each and every POJ was along my route!

I slept in this morning. Between this sinus infection and bronchitis, plus all the stress/lack of sleep this past week, I am wiped out! Didn't get to the gym until 8:40, knowing full well that the water aerobics class would be taking over the pool at 9:00. Wasn't too bad, and I was able to finish my swim. It was either 2000 or 2200 in 59mins, since I can't count laps to save my life!

Afterwards, I headed out for a ride. Bit chilly, but Santa brought me these really nice and warm booties to go over my cycling shoes. Quite enjoyable ride and I stayed plenty warm! 23m in 1:32. Unimpressive pace of 14.8mph.

Hi all - Happy New Year!

15 easy miles in 2:06:23 (~8:25 pace) - my on-going groin/abs strain was buggin' today so I kept it slow and cut it short

Sparky - at least Doc Vogel doesn't climb mountains faster than you!

I guess it's a rest day. My knee has been complaining. It needs to be in good shape for VRAA. And so it goes.

And Hawk, thanks for reminding everyone about the Year End Challenge. To restate it simply, go out and do your best on Dec. 31. Any distance, any surface, treadmills are fine if you like. I personally like the idea of a short distance. 1 mile seems good because it will be my "last mile" of 2007. I'd love to hear your stories. I'm hoping mine will be an 8 minute mile (maybe even less? who knows?).

Hi everyone. Nice to see a good community here for the daily run reports.

I must admit that I feel really guilty about living in California when people start talking about snow shovelling and treadmill running. Having said that, I did wear long sleeves today on my run

An easy 8 today, closing out a cutback week for me (42 miles). Big week ahead for me. a 10k race Tuesday (hopefully I don't overindulge Monday night) and I have set my aint-gonna-happen-stretch goal at sub 40 (current PR 41:43). To be honest I'd be happy with anything under 41. Fingers crossed!

Hi guys, a hilly run today. Relaxing pace. 11.08 miles in 1:50, with about a minute or so thrown in to wrestle a rock out of my shoe.

Slowest miles were 4-6 at about 10:30 pace which were all uphill, gain of about 500 feet overall. Fastest was the last one, all happily downhill at less than 7:00 pace.

I actually really enjoy running in winter in New England. No feeling guilty, we all adapt to our surroundings.

Arc/Anti-Kewt - take care with that groin issue. It's plagued you for a long while now

Grizz - nice run!

Billy - ice the knee!

Hi everyone! Great runs out there! Long ones today....I'll add mine to the list.

16.44 miles, 2:10:00, 7:54 pace

Getting ready to go out on Phillip and I's First Anniversary date...we've been married for one year today! It's been a fantastic year for us as a couple. We shared a lot together, as the first 5 months of marriage we were both in college without real jobs! Not everyone can say they spend that much time together their first year of marriage, so we're lucky.

Happy runs to everyone! I'll report tomorrow, Billy, on my
"BEST EFFORT" thing.

Hey ya'll,

Just a quick post for me as I'm still pretty busy. Got in a little over 6 miles this afternoon in the dark, rain, and cold.

My left knee gave me the usual trouble after about mile 3 for the rest of the run. At some points it would have a really sharp pain and it'd lock up and I'd have to stop abruptly for a few seconds because it would be too painful to move. Then it'd go back to its normal hurting which I am able to run through.

Any thoughts on what this may be??
