Wow,
I can't remember the last time I got to start a training thread!

It is crunch time for me as I get ready for my next marathon so I have started on my 6 day a week running program. Today was 12.79 miles in 1:52:39. The temps were in the low 60's I guess. It was a nice morning to run.

Lol glad I could help Eric. I was a little behind and needed to get to work so I though I'd let someone else do it. Nothing for me today. Starting up again tomorrow after school though.

Nice run, Eric!

It was such a beautiful day for running here that I decided to capture my 22 mile long run in a few photos for you all. Hope you enjoy.

First of all, I'm sure I am the only runner in the world today who saw this sight. There is a blimp factory on the outskirts of town.

Today I was trying to create a course as close to the marathon course (double loop, on an island resort, lots of quieter areas) as possible. Here's a waterfront section:

Why I call this my Forrest Gump route. I got to work with lots of headwind on this section (as well as enjoy the tailwind):

Forrest herself:

I did everything I set out to do with today's run. Mainly I wanted a good negative split. The first 11 I purposely held back and/or dealt with headwind and that was 1:44:30 (9:30). The second 11 I wanted to push to the fast end of my "easy" pace including the windy parts and that was 1:39:42 (9:03). Total time running 3:24:12. I am happy!

Nice pics, SGH. A blimp factory?

I did an interesting 5.4 miles. I was the sweeper for our club's trail race. So, I went out early to check the pink ribbons and every time I stumbled, I stop and spray paint the rock or root. At 2.6 miles, the turnaround, I stopped and help hand out water and gatorade. Then I had 3 false starts trying to run in with the last runner, as the first 2 times I started jogging back, we'd pass someone else still coming. The real last guy was power-walking. I tried walking with him, but couldn't keep up! Had to jog slowly; guess I'm just not a fast walker.

SGH - See, you're so hot, the MetLife blimp was following you on your run! And, you're much better looking than Forrest Gump!

Eric - Great job out there today.

Arrojo - Since you've told me how much you LOVE trail running, I bet you were glad to trail sweep.

As for me, I did my home 16 mile loop today. The first 6 miles were pretty good. Then I started having stomach issues for the last 10 miles. The mile times were inconsistent after that.

I did my home 16 mile loop today. Longest run post-marathon.

First six miles were great. Last 10 miles were awful due to stomach issues.

Mile 1 heart rate data is almost useless. The HRM was malfunctioning.

My Sunday:

iUWR Marathon, Seattle, 3:13:45. 1OA.

True, it was a small race (I think 27). But I really had to earn that win. Had to run the last mile at 5K pace to catch the lead runner (a woman).

This caps my fall marathon string:

Portland (OR), 10/7, 3:08:50 (PR)
Breakers (RI), 10/20, 3:19:10
Cape Cod (MA), 10/28, 3:19:05
iUWR (WA), 11/4, 3:13:45.

All BQs, and enough to bump my Marathon Maniac rating from one to three stars!

(Oh yeah, and a 40:18 10K+ on 10/14.)

Whew.
