Good morning all!

Tonya - I use to think the same thing. Once I was actually forced to slow down on my recovery runs, my overall speed picked up. It was amazing, I would have never believed it if it wouldn't have actually happened to me.

Hope everyone has a great day. A rest day for me! Well deserved, I am just totally spent from this weeks workouts. One more week of it, then a recovery week. So excited and can't wait. I have 5K at the end of this week scheduled. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Happy training all and becareful out there on the ice and snow.

May I be the first here to wish Baba O'Riley a very happy 40th birthday?

Happy birthday!

As for me, I am still 39 but not for too much longer. And I got eight miles in on the treadmill this morning in 70:18. Started out in the mid 9s and picked up the last few miles, with the last quarter at 7:30. Happy enough about that.

The baby whimpered aloud around mile four but I willed her back to sleep from the basement.

Take care, people.

Happy birthday Baba!!

Wedding day today. Up early to get hair done and dressed for the ceremony. You girls know the process--takes all day. I could have gotten up earlier to run before everything, but I already got up at 8:00 am. Not a morning person here so i'm doing good to be up, much less run. Plan to maybe run tonight after everything. I can't take today off--tomorrow is not looking likely for a run because of travel all day again, back to Omaha. Hopefully tonight's run will happen. If it does, I'm looking at 8+ miles again...maybe more. Depends on that horrible thing that we call time.

Everyone have a good one.

Tonya - Photos of you and Phil all decked out, yes?

7 slow and easy miles. Rain, freezing rain, snow mix. Good run overall. Back is stiff but no pain.

Go....I don't know who to root for today. Chances, you're pulling for the Chargers, yes?

Happy Birthday Baba!!!

Ellen--how do you do it on the dreadmill?!

Tonya and Phill--have fun! And we gotta have photos!!!

Arrojo--uh, details???

I started my morning in the fishbowl. Coach didn't have a workout down, so I just did what I wanted. 60min steady. Only stopped because someone was waiting (impatiently...) for my lane. Could ahve gone longer.

Change, then headed home to sit on the trainer and go nowhere. I had hoped to hit the road, but since there were wind chill advisories, decided to be safe and stay home. The garage is COLD!!! I was sweating, though, and my sweaty bandana actually froze! Never really did get into the workout. Just got 'er done. 60mins

Another quick change, then out for a run. Dang it's COLD out there!!! Core was fine, but my face mask froze up. Decent run for the weather. The garmin did short me slightly, but not enough to correct. 2.89m, 24:27, 8:27pace

Came home to fresh pancakes and hot coffee! Ah... life is good!!!

Happy Birthday Baba!

Same 15k race as Arrojo. It was COLD. About 25*F with some nice wind gusts (one nearly blew me over!). I was shooting for anything under 8:30 pace, and ran 8:16's, so I'm pleased. Tough hills at mile 3 & 6, made it interesting.

I think my face has finally defrosted.

Partly sunny, temp in the mid-20's very windy at the end. Race pace about 90 seconds slower per mile than I used to be able to do.

Great job out there, Jen, you are really running great these days.

It was the Frostbite 15K.

Oh, yeah I suspect we will both be there in Feb. And, as God is my witness, I will run faster than today.

Hi Ellen:

It was the Frostbite 15k in Raynham. And YES, I will be at Foxboro! That's one of my favorite races. (I'm not sure why, I just like it!) It's a grand prix race for our running club, so I'm pretty sure Arrojo & Vogel md will be running too!

That's great news. What's the course like? Since I'm planning on the New Bedford Half on 3/16 (as you are) I was thinking of doing this as a time trial. I haven't raced a 10 miler in a while. Too bad I'm interested in the 10 though, because I checked last year's results and I could likely place in my age group for the 5K.

13 miles on my favorite path today. We got a little snow last night and it's sticking around enough to make it look like sugar icing in the shaded areas. It "felt like" teens and was windy heading north, then it "felt like" 30s and was WARM heading south. I had fun with the hot and cold.

jensparks, glad you were happy with your race and Arrojo, sorry you weren't.

Good runs to those running, and enjoy the rest to those who aren't.

The course is pretty good, there's some rolling hills in the middle of it, but otherwise, I don't recall it being too difficult. We go within sight of Gillette (although I haven't noticed this the two times I've raced it!!). Post-race was pretty good too, inside a building so at least you can be warm!
