So.. what are your plans for the summer? Hiking any new places this summer or revisiting old places you love!

I tend to do a lot of day hikes here. One of my favorite places is the Sierra Buttes. Its a nice day hike with amazing views from the top! I'll post some pics when I get time to track some down.

Share what you are going to do this summer!

The best time is to do it as early as possible, it starts to get crowded by 11am. Even then the hard part is going back down with everyone coming up. I always go to the outside of the cables and by pass the crowd, but I don't recommend it unless you are an experieced rock climber. If you are starting the hike from the valley floor leave at 5am. If you are camping at Little Yosemite Valley..well you get a head start.
There is a great online video at the Yosemite site.

I was almost born there but I was a month late. Went back in '73 with the Coast Guard. Alaska is awsome...be carful of the bears...they are bigger and meaner than their cousins in the Sierras and they don't back down. Forget pepper spray,(to be PC incorrect) hope someone has a 10 guage loaded with slugs just in case.

I do not like heights at all - I think just the challenge itself kind of took my mind off it. The worst part were the people who froze on the ropes - there was no way to keep going unless you navigated around them, on the outside. I admit that part was not fun. So another piece of advice I have is to just keep going! It really is so worth it.
