What does a stress fracture feel like? I've read many, many, many articles, but I wanted to get a first hand idea of what it was really like. I think I might have one, but my dr. believes it may be a joint problem in my foot. I'm getting an MRI early next week but wanted to get some info before then. I'm very impatient.

I know there are several here that have had them. I'm sure some of them will share their experiences. In the meantime...Good luck and I sure hope its not a stress fracture! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

I think a stress fracture will hurt only on impact not range of motion, with joint problems your foot will hurt more with movement. I thought I had a stress fx for sure because it was the worse pain ever. But found that I couldn't wiggle my last 3 toes--so the loss of ROM pretty much shows tendonitis, a stress fx would only affect the area of the fx. If flexing your foot or moving toes, ankles, etc is painful or you can see a difference between ROM of one foot vs other, probably NOT stress fx. Also, touch around you whole foot, for instance I found that the top of my foot was extremely painful to touch, it was actually the origin of my toe problems. With tendonitis, you can have pain that you can have pain on the bottom of your feet and then notice that your ankle hurts to touch.
