Today my oldest is 26 y.o. and will celebrate with a nice meal out with the family tonight.

A good morning to run, with no wind and surfaces mostly ice-free. Did 3.9 miles in the dark, but faded badly on the final uphill section.

Good running, everyone!

Good morning fellas.

oh, no.... not banana day again. Let's make dancing banana splits! Why can't we have other dancing fruit like a pineapple?

Cfli, you closed schools BEFORE the snow came? If so, you must have better forecasters than we do. I want a snow day. I've lived in MT for over 30 yrs and I don't remember ever getting out of school for snow.

Happy birthday to your son, ksrunr!

I may have a "touch" of a bug because 2 out of 3 days that I ran this week, I ended up feeling really weird afterwards. Tuesday, I had some weird visual aura thing going on for an hour or so that was most annoying and then Wednesday after my nooner 7+ miles followed by lunch, I puked but then felt fine. Sorry if that's TMI. So I've decided to take today off from running and not push my luck but will still do yoga and pilates. Husband is freaking out saying I need to slow down.

Snow days are fun until you have to make them up in the Spring.

(((squeezing in)))

Hope you don’t mind me crowding in for a couple of days while the CR is down.

Choovie – sounds like some extra rest is in order. Wasn’t yesterday’s lunch a potluck at work? Maybe that had something to do with it.

After yesterday’s hill workout, today was 6.8 recovery-paced (ave 10:18 ) miles in 37 degrees and steady rain. By the 3rd mile, I gave up on avoiding the puddles and began deliberately aiming for them, splashing through them and smiling to myself. I think my clothes weighed more than I did when I got home.

With almost 500 miles on my shoes, it was time to get down the new pair in the closet, but I didn’t want to get my shiny new shoes wet and muddy. Mild PF-type pain plagued my left foot for the whole run (that’s new for me), so I iced it afterward. Hopefully it’s just from the old shoes.

Happy Thursday!

Choovie,
What makes CT different than MT since I have homes both places is the congestion. When bad weather hits the roads become gridlocked here. The communities we live in aren't willing to have buses on roads during these events. Todays storm is supposed to be short but intense. Snow fall rates will be 2-3 inches per hour and visibility low. So we play it conservative and shut down. I know that in upstate NY or VT or in good old MT this would never happen. It's a different culture there but also much less congested in terms of traffic.
Wish I was in MT!
Happy b-day to KSrunr's son. No bananas here, but how about some cake and ice cream .

Cheryl, what you're describing sounds like migraine symptoms to me. (Visual aura and nausea are commonly associated with migraines). How's your head? In any event, it sounds like a rest day is in order.

Speaking of headaches, I woke up this morning with a touch of one. I'm afraid it's a prelude to getting what my kids have. <<fingers crossed that it's not>>. Kids are home sick again today, but hopefully on the upside of this virus. It looks like I'll be home with them again, so I will probably get in a TM run later this morning. (Gonna finish my coffee first).

Have a good day, everyone.

No running for me today, or through the coming weekend. My knee is still feeling wonky, although a little better than yesterday. I iced it aggressively last night - 10 mins on, 30 mins off for several cycles. Maybe that helped (I hope). I have an appt with the ortho on Monday. DH doesn't think that it's meniscus as the symptoms are different from what he experienced.

Today I'm doing core work only with special attention to my "fluffy" abs. Tomorrow, if the roads are clear, I plan to do rowing or elliptical, depending on how my knee feels during the first few minutes of working out.

We're expecting a big snow storm today and already my staff is driving me crazy about when we're going to close the library. I have yet to see a single snowflake! The schools declared a snow day and didn't even open. I think that's a little bit of an over-reaction.

I hope that all of you have a great day and stay safe and warm!

My brother works for a TV station that touts itself as "action news". He commonly refers to it as "overreaction news" . We were just talking about this r.e. the storm that hit these parts a couple days ago. It did hit some areas badly, but his and mine were spared what the weather forecasters were wringing their hands over.

I hope you're as lucky regarding the storm. It really did a number on some areas around here. Hope your knee gets to feeling better soon and that it's a minor problem.

We "shut" down today.

I'm not too far away from CFli and was surprised when a neighbor called and said we had no school. I was expecting an early closing today - it's not suppose to start snowing until lunch time . . . there went my 10 mile run today. So I hopped on the TM before the kids got up and did an 8 miler at 8:00 pace.

MB - sorry about your grandfather . . .

Have a nice day everyone!

It's supposed to be 40 and sunny today-I'll believe it when I see it because it's cold and foggy now. Hopefully at lunchtime so I can slip in a short run. Tonight DD has her choir concert, and of course she has a cold and is even more whiny than usual for a soon-to-be-14-year-old. Choovie, hope you get to feeling better. If you see an aura at the end of the tunnel, don't go toward it! Holly, I've never gotten that many miles on a pair, and that could be what's causing the problem. Did you see my 5k RR? Since you're new here, I'll help you find it. Go to the thread at the top and you'll find the link to the RR section. Rose, Aunt Bea says you're watching too much TV. Glad to see you out doing your walks as planned! Happy B-day to KS's son. Roch, glad you didn't slip on the ice in the dark.

Snow days are great. When my DS was that age they were the best days ever for my DW and him. I'd come home from work and the house always smelled like freshly-baked bread or there'd be racks of chocolate chip cookies cooling. Even clearing the driveway is special when it's a snow day.
