Hey All,

Race report will be forthcoming but for now....

Well...I accomplished my first goal...finishing. I was really surprised how strong I felt throughout. I never hurt or got overly tired, in fact I ran my fastest pace in miles 38-46. The way the course was setup with aid stations every 4 miles probably helped that. I was able to run to each aid station and then walk for a few minutes rather than follow the 25:5 ratio I normally do (plus walking all the uphills).

I guess I just had one of those perfect races, nutrition went well (I carried my own food in my camelback), hydration was spot on (actually pee'd at least once every lap), and had my clothing layered just right.

Guess I should be thankful to the running gods for making my first 50 so great. Very thankful to all the GAC volunteers too, they were really great. What a great event. And what a great finishing prize, a really sweet rain/wind shell with "50 mile finisher" embroidered on it.

Also, thanks to Fast Freddy for loaning me a light for the final 4 miles. You were a lifesaver!

I had dreamed of an under 10 hour finish but am quite happy with the 10:45 I got.

I slept restlessly last night as I always do after a long distance event (almost like restless leg syndrome). Only got 2 small blisterc and very little stiffness today. Couldn't ask for a better race, result or recovery.
Congrats to all the finishers and once again thanks to all the volunteers!
