Hi all, and again, I have been lax at posting, but as I went for an early morning run today I thought I would get in while I can. I'm presently over in England, awaiting the arrival of Maisie Moo!, my soon to enter the world first grand-child. She was due yesterday, but no signs yet. I'm staying with friends in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, where I used to live in the 90's - when I was running long and hard. They live along the canal where I used to spend a lot of time training, and this morning, myself and Tracy, my hostess, went out along the canal towpath for a run of around 9Km, in a little over an hour, at a very leisurely conversational pace, with her two dogs running along with us - It brought back fond memories of faster times....... Seems my daughter is going to help my training by keeping me waiting a little longer, so I may get a few more runs in along this beautiful area of the country.

Happy running to everyone...

Morning, Liam..... hope Maisie Moo doesn't keep you waiting too long!

Nice 10, KS!

I've been running in Brooks on the road for years.... they've always just felt right.

We're supposed to hit 34°C (93°F) and humid today, then dip back to the low 20's. Am very glad I'm not running.... for now.

That sounds like a nice run, Liam! I hope all goes well with your first grandchild! Those first ones tend to always be a bit late . . . well, except mine. he was 3 wks early. and he still likes to be everywhere early.

today is my friday and then I'm off work until the 27th. I've never had such a long vacation before. Knowing me though, I'll be chomping at the bit to get back. But I'll thoroughly enjoy my time in MN. I haven't been back for around 5-6 yrs now. And as a surprise, my cousin who lives in AZ, put his 2 kids on a plane a few days ago to MN to stay with their grandma ( my aunt ) and that is where we'll also be staying while we are in MN, so my son will have two cousins to play with while we are there. They are 8 and 9 and my son is 11. He's only met them once and it was when he was only 5 yrs old, so barely remembers and they don't remember him at all. It'll be a nice time.

Will get in a run today. We should hit mid 70's and I guess I better get acclimated to running in heat. probably shouldn't have waited until 10 days prior to a marathon to do that, but when you live in Oregon where summer didn't arrive until just a few days ago, what'r gonna do eh?

Hope Erika is enjoying the heat and sun (and smoke?) in Scottsdale!

congrats on the grandchild Liam, sounds like you're enjoying the visit back home.

5.3 miles for me. I'm having a lot of aches and pains. Last week it was the hips, now it's the right knee. Had to stop and walk at mile 0.5, then just ran through it. Didn't hurt anymore till I stopped running. Tried something different this past injury. Immediately came back to 5 days a week of running instead of running every other day for a couple of weeks, 4 times a week for a couple of weeks, then up to 5 times a week like previous injuries. I'm keeping the milage low (around 25-28 MPW), maybe I'll have to cut back. Only missed 6 weeks. Yeah, this old age stuff sucks, but I guess it beats the alternative.

Can't really compare the MIL to Everybody loves raymonds MIL since I've never seen the show. I refuse to call her mom though, since she's only 10 years older than me. (I'm 11 years older than my hot little trophy wife , cradle robber that I am) Today I'm taking the day off work and taking her down to the redwoods & the coast.

Thanks Johnny! I'll probably give you a call post marathon and let you know how I did, since you aren't a bookfacer.

((Johnny)) You're probably right about your aches and pains being from too much too soon. You can either cut back to every other day or tough it out. You body will regain its lost conditioning either way, right? Remember: good nutrition and enough sleep are important factors in healing and rebuilding.

Hi Tamster and HappyFeat!

I'll second HappyFeat's comment, Johnny. I used to be able to run 5-6 days a week. Now I seem to be only able to get away with 4 for any extended period of time. And I'm doing a strength workout on two of the "off' days, so it leaves only one real rest day a week. Seems to be working for me, this most recent injury excepted.

Did an hour of strength work at the gym after work. Time to go home and get packing.............
