Just wondering what you folks think about someone stealing someone's avatar (as in right click/copy image.... steal and create as my own avatar!)

This happened to me at another forum with a personal photo I took and it kinda bugs me!

Beth- you need me to . . . um. . .talk to someone for ya!?!?! (And just in case Ms. Theia is lurking - I very specifically did NOT put quotes there. . .)

Lemme at 'em!

if it is your photo, that is creepy and wrong. If it was something generic like an M-Dot or something, then no biggie.

It wasn't a photo of me, it's a photo of a sports player I took. I double checked and it IS the exact same photo (at first I thought maybe it was just coincidence) because you can see the markings on the ice under his skates, the angle of his stick, etc... it's the same photo. What's an m-dot?

This happened on another board I was on a few years ago. If you took pictures and posted them to share, it's very uncool for people to copy and use them. But it is done.

It would bug me and I'd ask them to take it down.

I sent him a friendly PM asking where he got the pic "out of curiosity" (sorry Theia!) I complemented him on his sig since it was something about my (well apparently his too!) favorite player! Hopefully that will get him to respond. I'm hoping that he just thought it was a google image (since it's so good! ) and didn't think about it. Still, once he responds I will ask him to change it. There must be a million images of this player he could use instead.

oh, ok, i thought it was a picture of you. Here's my concern, if i saw a post by that user, i may think they were you, because it was the same avatar. Just like when PH has tither's picture in his avatar, half the time i thought it was her posting

Uh, from what I've heard, apparently it's quite popular!

Thanks, Eldude.... I knew it was familiar, but didn't know the name!

And Meri, that's exactly what I thought. I was reading the thread and as I scrolled down I was like "wait? I've responded to this??"
