I use one of these everyday at work. I've cut a 2X4's with this saw thousands of times. But, today, as I'm kneeling over, cutting a board, the saw jumps out of the board, I loose control of it and next thing I know it's sticking my in left shoe.

Hmm, that's not good. I pull it out of my shoe and there's a bit of pain in my big toe.
Hmm, that's not good. I pull off my shoe and sock and see that the blade has stabbed through the top of the toe, cutting the toe nail in half and has come out the bottom side of the toe.
Hmm, that's not good. I wrapped my sock around it and tape it up with some duct tape. I'm on a jobsite, what else am I gonna use?

Anyway, it's really not that bad. It didn't hit bone, barely nicked a tendon and the doctor wasn't too worried about it. He cleaned it up, sticthed it up and sent me home with a prescription. He's a runner, so we had a lot to talk about. He understood my concern about races in the next few weeks. He said I may not doing them.

I'm suppose to just lay around and keep it elevated for a couple days. What am I gonna do with myself for two days when I can't do anything?

Sigh, hopefully I can at least get in the pool once the sticthes are out.
