Ok....
Nutshell....
All events Freestyle

1000 yd 14:24.01 -- first time @ this distance. Very happy with this time. I had a secret personal goal of 14:30, but was afraid to ask anyone if it was feasible, in case I was overreaching. Guess not.

50 yd :32.61 -- PR by .12 seconds or something like that. Small improvements at this distance are just fine.

200 yd 2:35.41 -- PR by :11.?? I'm very very pleased with this. I held the close to sprint for your life puky feeling for 150 yards of this race today. Yay.

Longer version:

I rested in terms of working out this week, but didn't do a great job of getting the right sleep, or stellar food in me. HOWEVER, I did the best I could, and turns out it didn't hurt me too much.

Wed night I got home super late from a choir rehearsal (spent time afterward doing some singing with a friend...) got into bed after 1:00.

Thur morning, dragged ass out of bed to be in the pool by 5:00 and get my last light workout in. Taught training sessions all day. Another rehearsal that night....could really feel fatigue in my voice. Spent the night w/ the pianist so that I wouldn't have to sleep drive home.

Fri morning, got up, went to the foo foo lady to get a hair cut. Impulse purchased a facial while there. Had lunch with a student, then went in to work for a few hours to get some stuff done that needed to be done before the break. Drove to HAWTLANTA for the meet.

Watched the lightning.
Chatted with Tithers a bit.
Chatted with Mom a bit.
Got to the hotel, no more restaraunt ....too late.
Ordered Ravioli from a place that would deliver. Ended up eating around 10:00 my time, 11 eastern time.

Mom called.......The roof of the Georgia Dome got ripped off!!! Are you ok???

Sat morning, got up...left the curtains part way open so the light would help me get up. Got lightning again. It helped.
Ate well at the buffet downstairs....fruit, part of a bagel...some scrambled eggs.... oatmeal....milk.

Stopped at the mini mart and got bananas and gatorade.

Headed to pool. Super early, paranoia about being late will do that to me.

Had a great warm up........

Had a great swim.
The first event was the 1000 yd freestyle for me. I'm starting to really learn what 10 100s in a row feels like. I almost was able to keep track of the laps myself, ...but, lost it a bit in the middle, so was glad the lap counter dude was there. My splits were reasonable, but I have no idea if I negative split or not. The clock ate about 1/3 of them. So, who knows. I know my last 300 yds were all descended.

Cool down........
Get covered up and try to stay warmm.

It was about an hour before I would come close to having to be in the water again, so I put on a tshirt, wrapped a towel around my waist, and hung out till my teammate got there.

When they opened the lane up for warming up starts, I did 4 starts with 25 yd sprints, and got out.

I ended up helping do some timing for the first few events...relays. That's rather fun. If you ever want to check out a master's swim meet, and you're not sure what to do. Volunteer to help time. You'll see it all.

Next event, 50 FR. My teammate was there....cheered me on. I had a great start .... no goggle trouble..... did the first 25 breathing every 4...then ended up breathing a TON ont he way back. But, that's ok. Smooth stroking...great kick. Raced the chick next to me to the finish. I don't know if I out touched her or not, but I DO know that doing that helped me hold on to the puky feeling longer than I would have otherwise.

Short cool down.......
Back into the shirt and towel.

Last event of the day...

200 Freestyle. My teammate took my splits, I no longer trust the clock. When I watched the SEC's and saw how they swam the 200 freestyle, I realized that they basically go all out for the whole 200. They kick, LIKE MAD....most if not all of the way. So, I decided that I needed to stop "lolly gaggin' " around during the first 100 and swim the whole thing strong. I did. The first 50 is a gift, cause you have the dive to help...then I swam a strong 2nd 50, and pushed it the last 100. But...that special puky feeling started kicking in...the one that says you're starting to burn in your gut...your legs hate you, and really...wouldn't it be nice to just STOP? HAH! Nope. Raced someone else to the finish, and managed to drop 11 big fat seconds off my time. Yay! I think I went out in 1:15 and came back in 1:20.

Then....
SHOWER ........
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh CRAP!!! I realize that I'd left ALL my underwear in the CAR. I'd worn my suit under my clothes in themorning, and didn't put any undies in my swim bag. Soooooooooo.....what's a girl to do?
Yup....just put those jeans and sweat shirt on and dealt with it. lol. My ENTH Sister would be proud.

Then, drove from HAWTLANTA...back to Montgomery to sing in a concert.

Tomorrow morning have 3 services to sing, then a long bike +run after church, then another concert Sunday night.

Good thing there's no school on Monday....Spring Break.

Wow, Stitch... you are easily twice as fast as I am. Great job on all the PRs!

Sounds like it was long course meters? I've still yet to get to swim in an Olympic pool set up for long course... I think I'd love it.

Triaandstopme....
Nope, short course yards. LOTS of flipping.
The warmup/cooldown pool was longcourse meters, though. They have two different pools. It was at Dynamo Swim Center.....a pool that has hosted many many super fast swims. Michael Phelps's name was all over the walls on various record boards. Very cool.

LRR.....he he ...I'm an ESTP.....sis IS an ENTH (Earth Nugget Tree Hugger).

I'm rather tired right now, but sleepy tired...not workout tired.
A friend here drew me a map of a 15-ish mile route that I can do two loops of today to get my ride in.... I will have to set up my bottle refill station back at my other friend's house...or, just take cash and go to the drug store that's on one of the roads. I'll see whichever works better for me.

Yaaaayyyy!! Stitch!! Way.To.Go, smashing your old PR's!! Fablous 1000yd girl. Too bad that the clock wasn't working well on the split. I bet you did negative split. Congratulations. Any other meet this season?

Nice job on the swim meet. I can't imagine doing more than surviving a swim let alone racing it . Maybe that's the ENFJ in me?

Thanks everyone.
I was talking to a friend of mine (ex-swim coach; we used to lifeguard together in HS) about the meet. It's sorta hard to impress him at times, cause he "gets" fast swimming....and has coached fast swimmers. My times are comparable to FAST 9-10 yr olds, and average 11-13 yr olds. To put it all in perspective.

BUT, he did say that with the yardage I'm doing each week.....and based on the 500 time from a month ago, that this was a pretty respectable time for me.

I'm just tickled that it felt good and ended up good for me.

Really, I'm BAD at running, the pool is where I see success. So, I have to do it every once in awhile, or it starts to get to me.

I'm hoping that the combination of the three events will give me a different kind of boost when the time comes around to it.

Awesome speed, Stich. Very awesome, and congrats on the PR's. Wished you lived nearby so that I could get pointers from you.
