St. Patricks Day 3.5m Seattle RR

My BF, Michelle, finally decided to run a race, as long as I could commit to two things: 1. I had to stay with her the entire time and 2. I had to find a race in which I could guarantee that she not be last. Those were easy stipulations to agree to! We signed us up for the St. Patrick's Day Dash- 3.56 miles. Last year's attendance was 15,000!

We met at 8:30 for our start time of 9:10. She's been running off and on since last fall and even though I knew she was going to be fine, she was very nervous.
The race started at 9:20 and it took us about 14 minutes to reach the start line. She immediately found her pace until the masses were forced to slow to a walk as we entered the tunnel downtown. When we were able to run again, she picked up where she left off and made it up the only hill and settled back in. She walked a couple of times between mile 2-3 but found the strength to finish strong (and definitely not last) at 41:51. I was very proud of her!!!

And today, all she's talked about it the next race! Go figure.
