34.5 miles for me. That's slightly better than the week before but not quite where I want/need to be. I've been loosely following a RW plan of late that had me targeted for 42 last week. I probably would have made it if I hadn't decided to bag planned mile repeats on Tuesday and instead take a rest day because I wasn't feeling very well (had been battling a sinus infection, still shaking off its last traces now, and more or less hit bottom that day).

Did the 1600s the next day, and they went just fine.

M 1/31 - light XT - elliptical 30 minutes + 15 minutes core

T 2/1 - rest

W 2/2 - 4 x 1600 @ 6:15, 7.7 miles total run

Th 2/3 - 8.2 easy

F 2/4 - Hill repeats on TM, 6.4 miles total run

S 2/5 - 5.7 miles easy with 6 x 100 strides at end

Su 2/6 - in Philly, 6.5 mile easy run with DW along Boathouse Row/Kelly Dr.

Resting today, but I've got a pretty intense week ahead...only about 41 miles but a lot of quality work.

My first time at Crossfit on Saturday made me trade my long run to Sunday. Then on Sunday, I was actually MORE sore, so I cut it short (15 down to 10). Otherwise, I was right on plan.

M - 6 miles, hills

T - 2, as a warmup for core and plyo

W - 5

Th - 5.5, including repeats at 1200, 400, and 200

F - rest

Sa - 5.5

Su - 10.4

Total - 34.4

Have a good week everyone!

Nice weeks guys.

Bad start, nice end for my week.

I was sick the last half of last week and start of this week, so my runs definitely suffered early on.

M-6

T-6

W-6

T-6

F-6

Sa-22

Su-8

The weather stunk around here Saturday, so I set out to do a treadmill long run- It was torture at times, but I ended up finishing strong.

I expected to feel like crap for Sunday's run, but was pleasantly surprised by strong, fresh legs, and stopped at 8 even though I would have been fine going farther.

Overall- I'll take 60 for the week. One more long run, then a step back week before my first marathon this year.

Ski day threw a wrench into things, but otherwise, the week was OK.

M: 6 recovery

Tu: ski

W: 12.5 (15 planned)

Th: off

F: 12 w/ 6 @ LT (6:30, 6:28, 6:31, 6:36, 6:34, 6:28)

Sa: 7 recovery

Su: 23

Total: 60.5

Everything felt fine after skiing, though I did kind of push it on the slopes. But when I went out for 15 on Wednesday... by the time I was 6-7 miles out, I realized the left calf was getting to be a real problem. I think my left ski boot was too tight. It felt like shin splints (which I never get), but when I poked around, it felt more like a bone bruise on the shin. Unfortunately I still had to return home. The pain got worse all the way back, until I was walking.

So... I skipped Thursday's scheduled 7 recovery, and crossed my fingers. Fortunately, the calf/shin was not an issue at all on Thursday's LT, or since. So, I wound up light on miles for the week, but I still got in the quality, and maybe dodged a bullet.

Next weekend I'm running a half as an MP workout. It took me several tries to break 1:30 the first time... now it's going to be "just" a workout. Huh! Well, not an easy workout.

My week went pretty well, except for the long run. I had plans at 11 on Saturday, and slept in long enough that I didn't have enough time to do it. I went for a short run instead, and will do my scheduled 8 miles tonight instead. Not super excited to do it on the treadmill, but at least there is something good to watch while I do it!

My week:

M: 3

T: 4

W: off

Th: 4 (tempo)

F: 3

S: 2.5 (supposed to be 8)

Nice work everyone. I started out my week very strong as well, but thanks to mother nature ended up cutting my long run short. I had to stack the weekend, with my planned 18-20 on Sunday. Unfortuntately I did not know we were going to get a couple inches of snow overnight. The roads were a messy slip-fest and I decided to turn it at at 13 miles. Yowsa were my calves screaming at me Monday! I was still able to get in some very respectable miles, however, so I'll take it.

M: rest / 30 mins bike (8 miles) / abs

T: shovel / 7 easy on TM (9:04)

W: 10 with 5 @ tempo on TM (7:29 tempo)

R: 5 recovery on TM (9:29) / 30 mins bike (8.1 miles)

F: 7 with 6 striders on TM 98:56)

Sa: 12 outside! (9:01)

Su: 13 slow slippery miles outside (9:28)

Total: 54 run / 16 bike

Hey there, I just saw that you tried CF in Feb. Curious, did you stick with it? IF so, what kinds of impreovements in your WOD performance have you seen?

I've been drinking the Kool Aid since early November, lost 50 lbs of fat, put on 20 of muscle, and can lift 5x as much as I could when I started. So, I love it and wanted to see how it was working for you.

Jenna,

No, I haven't stuck with it. I went to a "team" class, which is free on Saturdays here. I've finished a couple of WOD since then, but I quickly realized I need to take the on-ramp class to learn the moves before I go too far - but, since I'm training for a marathon, Saturdays are reserved for long runs right now.

Congratulations to you on changing your lifestyle! It was fun, and I'll probably start up again after May 1 (marathon day).
