I happily accidentally stumbled upon a listing for a movie called Spirit of The Marathon, following 6 people on their journey to and through Chicago.
it is showing one night, one show only in very few theaters. There is one about a half hour from here. So I thinking I must be lucky.

Has anyone heard of this project? Any insights? What would anyone go through the trouble of filming and producing a movie to release it for a one time show in only a dozen theaters?

This movie was being shown here in Chicago just before the Chicago Marathon from Hell and it won some kind of award. But, yes this screening that's coming up is a limited thing. I'll be at the one near me!

I actually auditioned for the movie before I did the Chicago Marathon in 2005, but they didn't pick me.

Only a dozen theaters (I think it's nationwide that night)? It's playing in 5 theaters that night within a 15 mile radius of my house. I've already purchased tickets, can't wait to see it since Chicago '05 was my first marathon.

I'm going to see it at the Cinemark in Valley View with a few running friends. I'm not thinking this is going to have much appeal outside the running and independent film communities.

Melistic - where are you going to go for your showing?

It's playing (again) in Chicagoland. The movie sold out very quickly during last year's film festival so now I get to see it.

I have a ticket to see it in Richmond, VA. It's actually playing at two theaters in town (same night and time - Thursday January 24 7:30 PM). The one that all my friends are going to sold out So I'll be going to the other theater. I'm sure I'll know some people there, the Richmond Running Community is pretty tight knit.

Oh cool! A showing at a theater right next to the gym I usually swim at. Sounds like next Thursday night is fully booked now
