Y'all inspired me last week to email my LBS and ask them if they sponosored local athletes.<br><br>
It turns out, they are interested, and the guy I talked to today said he'd have to get back to me with the details after he talked to the owner, but they would likely do at least one of their jerseys and a discount at the store.<br><br>

Yeah, I never would have thought to do that, except last week someone was posting about how they had done that. I thought "what the hell?"<br><br>
The owner is supposed to call me tomorrow, but the guy there today all but promised me at least a jersey and a discount. I took him in my little story/pic/race schedule that I put together for the Skirtsports thing.

You gotta knock on doors, they aren't gonna come looking for you. If you ask and they say no, your out nothing. If you ask and they say yes, you get free stuff. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"> maybe money.<br><br>
Make sure you get it on paper. Especially your likeness. You don't want to ride by the store and see a picture of you and the caption, "Don't ride like her." or something else equally aweful. It happens.<br><br>

I feel fairly confident my LBS wouldn't do that, since I refer lots of people to them, and I have brought them in to my workplace to teach "fix a flat" classes.<br><br>
But Sheldon has good advice. I will heed it.

I just sent out a proposal yesterday for a local brewery to sponsor a beer tent at my cyclocross race this fall, I want the riders to race right through the beer tent and hop a double barrier inside while people drink free microbrews, should be a fun addition to my race, hopefully they will be interested.

I have a world cup video where the world champion stacks it in the beer tent trying to bunny hop two 15 inch barriers, he had to lay on the ground until the whole field went by. All the spectators smoke and drink while the riders come flying through, it's so euro...

I think I saw Jr in that video. It was him. He had his orange bike. He was coming toward the barriers in front of the beer garden. He dismounted right before the first jump and hit the first in running stride. With bike in one hand, he used the other to reach across to a spectator, snatched her beer, and, running so fast, was able to take a sip and hand it back off to her friend, who happened to be even cuter than she. All proud of himself, Mr. Jr stumbled on the last barrier and spit up his well-earned, hard-given back swig of ale.<br><br>
Dude, you almost had it.<br><br>
Great idea on the sponsorship.

I just emailed my LBS--dont know if I worded the request right--but hey, worst they are gonna say is NO right!---now I just have to wait and see.....thanks WY for the suggestion!
