After my HIM I started training for a marathon. During one of my long runs my knee locked up on my and I ended up walking 3 miles back to my vehicle. I wasn't happy. Although I have been here before. So back to the dr's again and the same old story. You have no ACL and need to have a knee replacement. However, the dr said he didn't think I needed to have it yet, unless my knee continues to lock up on me. I decided to get a series of injections in my knee to help "lubricate" it. I finished that shots just before Thanksgiving.

So, I decided to take a month off and do next to nothing while I was getting the injections. I was depressed and wanted to work out, especially run but knew that I shouldn't. Of course since I wasn't working out I started having all kinds of other problems. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I woke up with a pinched nerve in my neck. It got so bad that I had to go to the ER that night. It ended up taking almost 3 weeks for that to clear up and I am still having issues from time to time. And now almost 20 pounds heavier than I was befor my knee injury.

And to top it all off, I am now in Afghanistan away from the family for the holidays. Not good!

So what to do you do to cheer yourself up and give yourself a clear vision for 2011.

You got it. I signed up to do Ironman Louisville. :) Now I have a reason to get back in shape. So the training begins to lose this weight before I return home and begin the real training.

Lots of prayers coming your way big guy for the Lord's protection over you and your family, as well as for a speedy recovery. I hope that with all the technology now you're able to at least have some sort of family contact. Again, thank you so much for serving our country so selflessly. Any time you are really struggling with things, just keep in mind how nothing is out of the Lord's control Dave, he has a plan for you through all your life. Any weaknesses you have are made perfect through His strength. Much love from your Kick family. Merry Christmas Dave. :)
