There are several of us here (including me!) who will be at those races. If you do decide you want to do the HIM, you should register pretty soon - it tends to fill pretty early.

Wow. I just registered for a HIM last night, and I'm still scared to death. I did tris last year, and my HIM isn't until Oct.!! You are a brave soul.<br><br>
You do have until August, but you better start training. Most HIM plans are 5 months. Find one and start training. Everyone here is so helpful, so ask all the stupid questions you want (I have asked my fair share).<br><br>
I would definitely sign for at least one sprint and one Oly just to "get your feet wet" before your HIM. Experience REALLY helps in this sport. <img alt="wink.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif">

Funny. DH is now kind of against races that have the word "half" in them. He says, "Why do they have to call it a half marathon? They could make up any other name for it, and I'd run it! Half just sounds pitiful." I think the other way, though. If it has the word "Marathon" or "Ironman" in it, I think it sounds pretty darn cool (at least my non-athletic friends do -- actually, they just think I'm crazy)! Most people's eyes just get really wide when you say anything with the word marathon or Ironman in it.

The distances are so ingrained in my head I don't even think about it at all anymore.<br>
If I doubt the person I'm talking to is the same way, I'll simply say the distance.
