There are event wheels, and then there are these wheels: 734 grams (1.64 lbs.) for the pair at a cost of $15,000. The were made using boron by Lew Racing for a 150-pound (68-kg) German roadie named Gunter Mal, whose complete bike weighs 3,195 grams. That's 7.1 pounds, or less than half of what would be UCI-legal for racing. And Mal claims he rides it as many as 1,000 km (620 miles) a week.
