...when I see a highway patrolman parked on the side of the road up ahead of me. I can't just hit the brakes he'll see my brake lights as I pass by him. Now all of this is taking place in seconds. So I stop right beside him, yep..park it. You should have seen him, the cat didn't know what to do. I get out of the car and walk right over to him, by now he's getting out of his car.....
 
CHP...yes?
Me...how's it going?
CHP......can I help you with something?
Me...is Porterville up ahead (pointing)
CHP...about 10 minutes.
Me...ok, thanks<img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif" style="width:16px;height:16px;">

Hubby went flying by a cop a while back. He was doing 70 in a 55. Passing a stopped cop is one thing. Passing one driving the speed limit is another! Yep. He got pulled over. Son1 was with him, too. He just got his temps, so I guess it was a learning experience???

Several years ago I was cruising across southern Louisiana sometime after dark. I was doing a 'healthy' speed - over the limit, but not ridiculously fast.
 
 As I crossed over a bridge, I realized the car that was parked on the downstream end - hidden some by the bridge's railing - was a cop car. Looking in my mirror I could see his headlights come on and see him pull onto the highway.
 
 Now, my momma didn't raise a dummy, so I knew better than to bring my foot anywhere near the break. Those break lights in back would light up like a neon sign saying "yessir, you got me." I just lifted my foot off the gas and coasted to a reasonable speed.
 
 The cop did follow me for about a mile, checking on my speed. Finally he passed me and stopped the guy that had been passing me as I came off the bridge! The cop knew that while we were probably both speeding, he was going to have a stronger case against the guy that was doing the passing.
 
 Talk about good timing.

I stay off the brakes as well. One night, coming back from a High School football game, I actually got stopped TWICE! The ticket Gods were on my side that night- I got let off with two warnings!

Being out in god's country, the speed limits are all higher but they pull over more liberally. The secondary roads are the worst, the tricky bastages will pull a U-Turn right on you if they're going the other way. I got ticketed going 77 in a 65 in the middle of a long downhill straightway....I later learned that my dad, who had been visiting, also got pulled over in a different part of the state that weekend doing 79 in a 65 and only got a warning.

It was US Thanksgiving and my wife and brother and I had driven across the continent to be in Minnesota. We were visiting my SIL who lived in Edina and the wimmin folk kicked us out INTO A SNOWSTORM for reasons of needing space to have a serious discussion about some (expletive).
 
So I drive the brother into town. The roads are horrible, and as I come to a stoplight downtown I realize that I have to blow the light or I won't be able to stop. There was a cop right there turning in to our lane. I cross the street, pull over and wait for him. I told him I know what I did, I told him that I also didn't have a clue about where I was. He was very polite, asked me where I was going (foreign tags) and I told him my sister in law's address. He got us turned around and gave us a warning.

In Wisconsin I was doing 80 in a 55. When I was stopped, I told the trooper I had to get home so I could give our dog his medicine (which was in fact true).
 
The key is not so much to get stopped by the same cop. Don't get stopped in the same area twice.

I got pulled over for a "70 and still accelerating" in a 35 zone.... I got a very expensive ticket that required a court visit.... oh well, that 340 in my 71 Plymouth liked to scream...

I liked reading those.."me too"...above. I see we can all relate. Funny that I got a "Best Of Jim Croce" CD at a yardsale Saturday.
 
So there I am doing some ..YUCK!..yardwork when I notice my license plate on my car (the one I was in in my story) the housing around the plate reads....PORTERVILLE.. then below..HILLTOP (where we bought the car)......hahahaha,....EL DUH!!!!!!!!!!!! Now what if that CHP had noticed....PORTERVILLE? Yeah I'm clever alright.
