a state budget meeting will be held at our high school starting at 10 am.......school is in session.

My son, as well as other driving teenagers were told that they cannot park on the school lots today. The school even suggested they park on church property across the street. my son paid a fee to park on the school lot for the school year.

The reason? so protestors can park there. Again, at 10 am. The original high school backed out as they feared they could not control the crowds. so our school, stepped in and said...we can...our kids will leave early today.

now, I am pissed!!!

Huh??

Are the protestors seen as the "good guys" in this scenario?

If not why is the school providing accommodation for them?

It was the decision of our school administrator and our state representative.

Protstors..good or bad...not sure.???? Nit sure our state rep. Is one of the 2 republicans that voted against the recent bill,

IMHO, any person that protests on school property while kids are in school, are self centered a holes and I like to slap them, if they have. A " it's about the children" badge on.

We have a (not so) funny situation here.

The governor, in order to keep taxes from going sky high has put a 2 % limit on local tax increases. Never mind the fact that all the school districts now want to increase by more than 2% because he, the governor, cut way back on school funding. But, that's not what I'm posting about.

Our township wants to increase taxes by 25% because they screwed up. They're ramming (or trying to ram) a large development down our throat, saying that if we allow it, we won't have to have the 25% increase.

The school district and the township budget comes up on a vote in about 2 weeks.

The school district, who has toed the line, has done a lot of cutting, sent out an emergency e-mail to all parents yesterday.... PLEASE BE AWARE THAT *WE* (the school district) ARE NOT ASKING FOR 25%. WE ARE WITHIN THE 2% WINDOW.

Unfortunately, I have this sad feeling that the voters, many of whom can't separate one issue from the other, will see 25%, and think that the two budgets are the same, and the school district budget will get shot down too.
