And I'm crossing the little park that's just before our cul-de-sac, when out of the corner of my eye I spy one of my sons on the skating rink.

Now there's been a skating rink there for as long as we've lived here, local dads and moms flood it, they have a key to the little shed and have a firehose. I've tried several times over the years to get the boys interested in skating outdoors. Nope. Wouldn't have it. They were indoor rink rats and loved the Olympic Oval.

Now - they're out chasing each other. I park the car and mosey on over. They don't see me in the pines watching them.

Howls of laughter - "Where'd you learn to skate like that?" "Nice move...but you're it." And it is hard to believe that they're 18.

"You know what, I missed you bro... but you're stil IT!" and off they skate again, round and round. It's nice having them home. I wander back to the house and fix up some hot chocolate. They might be 18, but they're still boys. Merry Christmas all.

They are going sledding. What is this? Reversion to childhood? They've coralled some HS friends and are off up the ravine. Missus and I are out for a walk and promised to have all sorts of baked goody goodness ready for their return.

Well, one oby hasn't seen real snow in quite some time and won't see snow when he returns. I would imagine that Montreal has snow, but I can count on one hand the number of white christmases I experienced on Vancouver Island.

Maybe he is just missing those activities because growing up it was always available, and now it's a novelty...

Fun times in the Grizzly household.
