Whats your favorite healthy and unhealthy snack?

For me, healthy snack is any kind of fresh fruit. I could live on it! Blackberries is one of my favs, although I do love straweberrries too.

As far an unhealthy, probably dried kiwis. I discovered thise recently at Costco and could devour a whole bag in one sitting if I wanted to. ( I can no longer have these in the house )

Well, I gave up a lot of the unhealthy snacks a bit more than 2 years ago now. But even healthy snacks can be too much of a good thing (unsalted peanuts... etc.)

I hear you though, there are things that I can't have in the house because they call out to me from inside their bags, however deeply hidden they are in the cupboard. In fact, I can hear them now, 8 miles away.

I'll figure out how to quote properly...

But for now:

Sierra, I've seen those big bags of dried kiwi at Costco! I've resisted buying them because I know I'll be unable to resist their sweet siren call. [/quote]

I am tellin ya, they are soo addicting it unreal. Dont start and you wont have to try and stop! ( I say try because it took me three bags before I broke the habit! )

And like grizz said, they call your name like few other things can! Its amazing how my hearing improves when there is something hiding in my kitchen that I want to eat!

sierra, sierra, sierra

Salted, in-the-shell peanuts are my current favorite. I suppose they can be considered healthy, but not in the quantity I've been eating them.

The worst thing is that I like to eat them in bed, in the middle of the night. No matter how neat and clean I try to be, I always wake up covered in peanut skins and shells.

Nice.

Healthy: unsalted almonds or tamari almonds, organic low-fat yogurt maybe with ground flax added. Oh and peanut butter & honey on good bread, but I usually eat too much of that so try not to snack on it.

Unhealthy: I have such a sweet tooth. Probably my #1 favorite is double-dipped chocolate malted milk balls, the kind you buy from bulk bins. Peanut butter malt balls like that are great, too. And candy corn. And cookies dipped in icing. Ok, virtual food coma, I'll stop.

For the salty side, my SO & I are addicted to Sun Chips, but we only buy big bags for road trips. We drove from Minnesota to NC and each ate equal to a bag along the way! When not traveling, an occasional single size bag (with a sub) is enough.

What kind of icing? The stuff you buy in a tub? Or do you make it?

That sounds really really really good. Also, what kinds of cookies?

Can you tell I'm hungry?

Sugar cookies or chocolate chip cookies dipped in store-bought tub icing. I like "classic white" which I don't even think is a flavor found in nature.

This pretty much is reserved for the holidays for me, but oh, it's a delicious sugar coma.

I'll eat anything dipped in lemon icing! yum!

When we were growing up, my favorite aunt used to make the most delicious lemon pound cake with lemon icing. *swoon* Years later when I asked for the recipe, she convessed that she'd been making it from a mix (Duncan Hines, I think) and adding a couple of extra egg yolks to improve it.

Great confession! I don't mind store-bought or mixes as long as they're good, though there is great reward in making something from scratch.

Sounds good.

There's a lemon pound cake my mom used to make that she poked full of holes with a toothpick and doused in a sugar/water/lemon syrup.

I don't have the recipe but I suppose you could play around with a basic pound cake recipe.
