Contraindicative to yesterday's photo, bruises are actually rare on me. I considered applying for a zip code for that one.

We happened by the tail end of the Molasses Festival on Whitetop on our way to get water yesterday, but too late.

They had sold all they cooked, -144 gallons. It's a fund-raiser for the VFD.

The weekend left me with a few sore and tight spots. Nothing major, but I was slow as m_______ this morning.

3.05 at what should have felt like an easy pace. I was loosening up by the end. Corework, an apple, and I feel better.

I'm feeling so good after TCM that the Devil in me is considering running Detroit this Sunday to get one of those Yellow Maniac shirts. The Angel in me will probably win out as he usually does.

DW is in N. Michigan working on the new place, so I'm a Bachelor for the next week.

I got a Smart phone last week. I don't think I'm Smart enough to use it. Smart Phone, Dumb User.

I don't know all the Royal Vic results, but I know SS ran a very strong marathon, so congrats especially to her. Looking forward to other results. I know a lot of people did well.

All of my friends who ran Chicago had a miserable time. What a shame that people work all summer to get in fabulous shape, then go up there and get still another hot and miserable day. Soundie ran well I think, but they stopped sending me texts after her Half split.

I'm still in recovery mode and did 2.2 on the dirt track today, as I did yesterday, and followed that up with a full flexibility and core workout at the Y. My right knee is a bit tender so I am a bit concerned about it.

Yesterday Riblet and I saw Henry IV, with both parts I and II condensed into one play. It was very good, much better than the local Dallas football and baseball games!

Yes, Billiam, defiantly -Strike while the Maniac Hammer is hot.

Bill, you don't have to RACE this one to get the Maniac singlet. Your time doesn't really matter at all and if you are feeling good right now, I'd take advantage of your great recovery and conditioning and go for it. Live on the edge a little!

I haven't heard much yet about the marathoners this past weekend, so am looking forward to some reports to start coming in. I wonder if those partier's in Vic took lots of pics?

today will be a rest day for me. I got in 36.5 miles last week which is about twice what I have been doing lately .

Ribs - I know a few people from the UK who ran and they found Chicago tough as well.

After yesterdays 100+ on the bike I'm having a running day so have done 2 short runs which have gone well. Off to play intervals now though so this could be painful

I'm having cursor issues, too, JJJ. Seems like "upgrades" usually equal lost functionality and increased frustration.

Byll, I have a dumb phone still. We seem to work pretty well together. My iPod, however, is about to give up on me because I'm just clueless. And go for the MM status!! You know you want to...

Awaiting word from RVM...

Chicago was beastly hot just a couple of years ago, right? 2007? TCM was also hot that year, but didn't get as much press as the Chicago meltdown.

Labduck, I forgot to add a ^5 for how you ran your sister in yesterday. That was priceless. My brother would've just argued with me the whole time.

Woohoo to RIP and BAP! Back in the winner's circle for Rip, where you belong young man. Way to go. And awesome PR for BAP. Just think what'd happen if you actually trained for the HM!

Well, winter is here. We had snow last night, on top of the wet roads from yesterday. So this morning was an extremely slick ride in. Glad I got my winter tires on, sure wish everyone else would. All the tire shops and garages in town will be swamped for the next several days as all the procrastinators rush to get their tires changed over before they wreck their vehicles. Heh. Feeling smug that DH timed it just right this year with my car.

No run today, but a trip to the gym at lunchtime. I guess I need to get the treadmill set up in the garage. It got shoved into a corner last summer and there it sits. Haven't used it since early spring...

After the obligatory holiday oil change, I went to the Y for a yoga class I normally can't go to. Not bad. Then my hour of circuits and I'm just dog tired. Luckily I have a deep-tissue massage this afternoon. I could get used to this schedule but I can't retire for another 10 years. I'll do an easy 4-mile run this evening. The foot's pretty happy with me right now.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canuckian friends!

eta-my brother would die of a heartattack. I like that story, Tammy, and I'll remember not to be a blabbermouth for Dove's sake in AZ. Yes, I know it means shifting gears but I can handle it.

Erika, saying your brother would have argued with you reminded me of these two at my race on Saturday. The female was probably a young highschooler and the guy she was running with could have been an older brother, or maybe just a friend. We started out and about 2/10th of a mile in, he is jabbering away to her, asking if this is a good pace and saying "I'll run your pace with you, just let me know if this is good" and just talking nonstop. Finally, she yells (and I mean yells!), "Would you just SHUT UP and Stop Talking to me!!" . . . I was up ahead a bit and just started chuckling - as did those around me. I was so glad she said something because at about that same time I was thinking "dang, that guy would be bugging the crap out of me!"

sorry about your winter. I guess it is almost mid October, although we should be in the low 80's here most of the week, so it's hard for me to wrap my brain around snow!

Ok, yeah, I'm gonna be a little bit grumpy about it too. So anyone enjoying warm temps of 70's and 80's can just keep it to themselves this week, ok?? Talk of 40's is fine, as we might ("might") see 40 this weekend so I'm good with that.

I like grumpy evanflein! Does Enke still live in the PNW? Then she's lying since we're having sunny days with temps in the high 60's to low 70's this week. Yes it was cool this morning in the 40's; I wore a jacket for the first time in months. But we're suppose to have a delightful week weather-wise. My tomatoes are still ripening.

I'll RAW later. I am SO sore from running a slower pace than usual yesterday when I ran with my sister. But it was worth it. Thank you everyone for your kind words, and apparently passing on to me osmotically knowledge I did not know I possessed.

Dinner tonight with Econo and The Pro From Dover. Maybe I'll learn some RVM dirt...

Hi everyone. Beautiful temps here in the Northeast (don't read this Erika). I ran 7 miles in the park with my BIL, since he had the day off from work. He wore a cotton t-shirt and cotton cargo shorts. It's good that he's going back to work tomorrow, I think....

12mi slow in 85f and about 0% humidity. and no evan, i didn't enjoy it... i'm really really really tired of summer at this point. will need to drink another gallon+ of water to recover the 10 lbs of sweat i lost during that slog. i am so ready for cooler weather.... but we'll be getting up near 100f again this week, lovely, lovely, f-in lovely...

CNY - you had an amazing race! What'd you think of the new course? Gin and I liked it! I did wonder if you were there, I figured you were there, you were helping run a friend in from the full. Wish we met up!

Lab - congrats to your sister and you for being a wonderful brother!

5 slow miles for me. I love running this time of year in before it gets dark out with the fall foliage and mild temps!

Yeah mc, you can keep that stuff... that's too damn hot. I'd sure love some 50's for a couple more weeks though. *sigh* I go through this every year. Some of you will get there eventually, but I always break the ice on this trend. And yeah, Lab, Enke was saying the morning temp and how perfect it was. grrr. And yes, please do tell any dirt you find from RVM. They're all being pretty tight-lipped about the whole thing.

30 minutes on the elliptical (3.73 miles) and half mile walk around the track (4 x 200m). Almost fell on my butt in the parking lot. Need to find some shoes with better traction, I guess.

Did I forget to mention it was a balmy (just the way I like it) 80+° yesterday at the race? I hate to read Erika's reports because we are going to be there very quickly. Of course I rarely run outside in the cold anyway but it makes getting to the fitness center a little more uncomfortable. Sorry MC, I can never get tired of warm weather!!

Welcome to the "cold" club Bap. I think mine is finally starting to break after a little more than a week.

Heading to the fitness center now to get in a good eliptical workout. I need to start going a little longer (over 60 minutes) after some shorter workouts last week.

Opie, blabber away.... I just might not blabber back. And good to hear Labduck has been practicing his pacing duties, but if 9 minute miles make him sore, I shutter to think how he'll handle my planned 15 - 18 minute miles.

Byll, go for the singlet. Use the marathon as a long, slow run and just get it done. You know you want to, so get that monkey off your back.

CNY... 500 days of running plus a great race on top it. WOW

Hi Pie

Great racing over the weekend, but I'm still waiting for full reports from RVM.

I actually felt great over the weekend and managed a 20 mile trail run. I'm kicking myself for not going to Victoria, but I know 20 miles on the trail is gentler on the feet than 26 .2 on the pavement.

My last long run is in the bag, now for two weeks of taper and travel.
