So, I just got back from vacation for 9 days in FL where I ran only 4X and for only 3.5 miles. It was so hot & himid that was about all I could muster. Last long run was 12 miles and it will be 2 weeks out on race day.

Now, the training for this has gone pretty well, although I haven't done any specific tempo work this time, but did add a med long run midweek. I am not expecting a PR, I have given myself persmission to just have fun on this race and enjoy the day.............so if that is what I have in mind, why do I feel a little panicky? Oh and this is the 4th time I've done this race and it's always the same weekend and I always go on vacation the same time and ran what I usually do.............basically it works out to be about a 2 week taper..........I am rambling..........

Deep breaths, girl, deep breaths. You've done the work and the hay is in the barn. Trust your training and it will get you to the finish line smiling and strong. You're feeling panicky for the same reasons all of us feel panicky before a race we are explicitly training for. I could have written this exact post last Monday, well except for the vacation bit.

Enjoy recovering from the vacation :) You will be fine - you've put the work in!

You are 5 days away - If you feel nervous, go for an easy short run with some pickups - you will feel better.

Are you running Big Lake Half on Saturday?

Your body still has that 12 mile run in it and it won't let you down. My coach always says this to me and I had a hard time believing him until it worked and now I remind myself of that on the regular.

I too would love to say hello. I'll look for you. I don't know my # yet either. This is me and Daysman. My hair is shorter now having donated 9 inches of it but I still look pretty much the same.

Julie - you will rock this! You have the training and the experience to have a great race. I was looking forward to seeing you and other LIT folk there but its a DNS for me due to hamstring issues. Of course the weather will be perfect if I'm at home. The only times I've done Big Lake is in the pouring rain and 40 degree temps.
