I had actually relished the thought of facing the elements this morning...I was dressed in snow pants and lipstick, ready for my race, aptly titled the Winter Challenge. And they just cancelled it!

I can't muster the enthusiasm for a solo run through this Nor'Easter, so I'm drowning my sorrows in hot chockky.

Morning Cfli and Robin. I shudder to think what some of the guys here are going to think of your outfit this morning

No snow here on Long Island but very heavy rain. I'll do something inside later, now I have to decide what to do about my log.

Forecasters says this region (and including your area too, Robin - will experience more snowfall than we have in all the years since those notable seventies).

Yeah, 6" on the ground, more on the way, and a stiff wind to blow it all around. Time to stay in and bake those gingerbread cookies, trim the tree, and maybe clear the driveway in the late afternoon.

Glad I took that run yesterday!

Good morning everyone. Mother nature sure is dishing out a smorgasbord today. Isobars must be rubbing shoulders here; winds 25-35 with gusts up to 50. Felt like I was wearing one of those little parachutes you see advertised in running magazines. We got 2" of slush yesterday, 1-2 inches of snow expected today. Not good for skiing but at least I was able to run.
Storm sock, storm sock, shoe, shoe, 10 buffeted miles, shoe, shoe, storm sock, storm sock. Have a good day!

OH my Aija, 13 miles on the treadmill! I can't imagine it.
And no, its a running log. Until they get one here, or if it's not what I want, I set one up on runningahead.com. It's quite customizeable. After momentary panic when I realized my mileage for my shoes was not added in the downloaded CR log I sorted the columns by shoes, copied them into a new sheet and let Excel add it for me. *phew*

Only rain here on LI....albeit a lot of it and far too much to run in.Wind: From ENE at 23 mph
gusting to 28 mph
I'll either drive over to the gym or go downstairs to my building gym soon as I finish playing around online.

Good Morning!

We got about 6" of the white stuff last night - it is SO pretty and I couldn't wait to get out and run in it!! So, in honor of the 6" - I ran 6 miles, making it a 25 mile week. I've lost track of my goal number, but know I am getting close.

Cookie baking insues this afternoon . . . . Maybe I should have ran longer as I can't resist a good Christmas Cookie!!

Images of women running in only snowpants and lipstick are going to stay with me a while. Oh no......was that tripleJ that just went by? That shade doesn't compliment his skin tone at all.

some nice rough weather outings this morning..........glad to see you back in the groove renaldo.......FF, 10 miles in that kind of weather is impressive

cold and blustery here....a few flurries, but IRC.......going to head out shortly for a few (4-6) miles just to get the blood flowing...I don't own any snowpants, so it's still shorts weather for me....sans lipstick....I hate to attract unwanted attention when I run *pucker pucker*

Just got back from 6.1 miles in a PR low temperature for me: 1F. (It was probably also a PR slow time of 1:14). I wasn't sure how to dress for that; my previously coldest run was 10F. Thankfully there was no wind, so it turned out I was just about right with 3 layers on top & bottom, 2 layers of socks and gloves. I started out with a balaclava plus my favorite hat, but removed the balaclava after 2 miles. Then I was perfect.

I sweat a lot. When I got home the hairs on my face were full of ice. My kids thought I reminded them of that scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles where John Candy and Steve Martin hitched a ride in the back of a pickup truck.

I see the Active is somewhat functional today. It looks rather Spartan...surely that can't be "it".

Fellas, stop thinking about rtravers and go take a cold shower. I wish I could get about 6 or 7 inches.

I just woke up from a late night and find I have sore legs from my run yesterday. Think I'll spend some quality time with the foam roller and do some yoga before heading out to Christmas shop. We are finally going to get a tree today too!

Nice HM, Ksrunr!

Thus far, I'm not very impressed by the Cool Running/Active changes.

Choovie! You just melted all the snow

Just cold rain here but it IS rain! We'll take it. I'm so glad I did my long run yesterday since it is RAW today. 30 mph winds later with gusts to 55.

Nice day to stay inside with the Christmas tree pine aroma. We're having DD1 and DD2 and their BF's and some other snow stranded friends from NE for a nice Ham dinner Holiday celebration. Hope Logan gets flights going tomorrow.

Meanwhile did 30 min elliptotorture. 20 min backwards, 10 min forward. I thinl backwards really helps the legs, they felt great after (but NOT during!)

I like this place.. warm and fuzzy. (Went to CR/Active for a bit and now I have a headache)

All I'd need is my old CR Log back. If that came orignally from Kick to CR does anybody have a copy (Liam?) of the program to run stand alone on a PC?
I liked the full text search feature which the other logs don't have.

Enjoy the snow!

It's clear-ish but howling a gale out there. Will potter about this morning and wait to see whether it eases off for my recovery shuffle this afternoon. I may be a wimp - but I just don't want to go out in a hurricane. Will check in later...

Morning All,

Man sounds like the middle of winter or something out there. I am proud of all of you that got out there anyway. DD and I are up in the Idaho Panhandle at my Dad's place. Like we are 20 miles south of the Canadian Border. We went out for a shorty yesterday (30 minutes) On snow covered gravel roads with snow on the pine trees. It appears that it mostly snows at night here. Anyway very nice run with very nice company. We will go out for a longer run today out on the forest service roads.

Peace

this was my first post on that other site, but not sure how many folks will find it right off.

choovie--you were talking about snow, right?

out at 6:30 this morning for DD taxi service, so decided to get in my run before the major portion of the storm hit. got to my normal Sunday spot about 7:00--first one into the parking lot, first one out on the trail. fortunately they had plowed the path after the big Thursday storm, so I had a somewhat less deep place to run. I love being the first out after a snow, but felt more like I should have had snowshoes instead of yaktrax.

3 miles in 34:30. I wasn't expecting fast, but wanted to get a little idea of how much 4" of snow would slow me down. Not too bad, especially since I had to stop a couple of times to get some of the snow off my glasses to see a little of where I was running. it was 18F when I left home and 29 when I got back. no wonder I ended up running the last half with no gloves. Then home to do a little bit of cross-shoveling. about 8" total and turning to sleet and rain at the end of shoveling. I got lucky and missed the 12" we got on Thursday by being out of town
I am glad to see that the Olympia Marathon runners (Erika, Soundie, Divechief) are getting a rather decent weather for the last marathon of the year. Go get them guys.

No running for me yet. I will go out for a recovery run later. For now I am just enjoying a cozy morning with my family. My big to-do list today is to send our biennium Posie family newsletter (yes, you read that right, we send cards every other year). Not that we try to be "out of the box" thinkers or anything like that.

Labduck, how are the orthos treating your feet? Any run on them yet?

JJJ, I will have some hot soup ready for you in 7 hours or so. Now...going out to run on this weather takes more mental fortitude than the 12 miles I did on the TM the other day.

Econo, I am wondering if what I am eating right now (home made apple fritters) would be considered part of the "gospel nutrition" for athletes.

I miss SpareRibs and Vista.
