I am at a loss to try and figure out what's going on with me.

I can eat super spicy foods and have no relfux.
I can eat a bowl of Cheerios and be in agony all day.
Cookies, cakes, pies = Reflux..some of the time, but not others.

I can eat a bagel with cream cheese one day and be golden, or I can eat a bagel the next day and have an almost violent response to it (stomach pain, nausea, over active salivary glands.) LIke today, I almost threw up at my desk which scares me because I hate throwing up.

Veggies kill my stomach (with the exception of cukes, tomatoes and lettuce.)

Fresh fruits with the exception of berries do the same thing.

And none of these things has any kind of consistency to it...just enough recurrence for me to notice, but not count on.

Stupid fickle GI system!!

I am exactly the same freaking way. My dr actually put me on something that starts with an R. I will pm you the name of it when I get to the parents house tonight. I dont' have the bottle inside with me. What ever little pill it is worked instantly. I rarely rarely take pills but this is one that I will take for ever if I have to. I haven't felt this good in a long long time. I'm talking 14 ish years here and the fact that it worked instantly is 100% worth taking it.

I still have reduced the amount of sugar I intake the pill was just icing on the cake. I rarely have to take a tums now. Actually right now I could totally use one but it's becaue I had a mocha and a chocolate muffin so it's totally my fault not the pill's.

She didn't really even give me a real diagnosis she just basically told me that maybe I had over active stomach acids and was having reactions to wheat. I cut out wheat, citrus, garlic and thanks to Makeda I had already cut out most sugar. I have been gradually re introduceing everything just to see the reactions while I'm on the pill.

Wippy, is the medication named Reglan? If so, it's used to treat heartburn and some associated symptoms like early satiety. With early satiety, you feel full before you really think you should given the amount of food you ate, or like it just sits in your chest area (epigastrium) or stomach for a while before moving down.

Alia, have you been to see a gastroenterologist for this? If it's just reflux, he/she can put you on a medication, suggest the right diet change, advise you to elevate the head of your bed, etc. Or maybe what you have is a little different and you can get to the bottom of it. It's definitely no fun having pain from food all the time! And over time, chronic reflux can change the cells lining your esophagus near your stomach in ways that you DEFINITELY don't want.

I have the lovely acid reflux disease (GERD) and take a great little purple pill to make my life better. (Nexium) It took me forever to figure our my triggers. Citrus fruit, tomato based products, tea, soda, milk, chocolate... and like you, spicy foods don't bother me unless I've eaten something else that's borderline.

Good luck figuring out what's going on. If it is GERD's, it's easy to manage, although long runs get tough. I can't do most sport drinks or gels.
