I am 6'2" and down to 197 (+ - a few). I've noticed that I have started getting more mileage out of my shoes after:

1. getting lighter (I was 250+ when I started running)
2. getting faster (less footsteps per mile)
3. getting shoes that fit me better.

I was using Reebok Road Premier something or other, then Asics 2010 (iirc). Both of them felt fine, but between 200-250 I developed severe foot pain rather suddenly and it went away with new shoes.

Tried a different running store and they pointed out how my wide feet roll over the edge of the sole when running and found the Brooks Adrenaline for me. Over 300 before I started to feel my legs more than usual. I had a foot evaluation and they recommended the Brooks Addiction for more durability. The running store said the Beast were in between the Addiction and the Adrenaline so I tried them. I can't wait for them to wear out, because they feel heavy and have never felt right. No pain, but they don't feel right. Also, I've started to feel some Achilles (I think) tightness when I run with them. I think I'll stick with the Adrenalines and hope the new ones (seven?) are not much different from the ones I have had so far (SIX).

Short answer to the survey question, I'm happy if I get 300+ out of a pair.
