</ul><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>I enlisted in the Navy 6 yrs ago (age 37), part of the requirement was to be able to run 1.5 mi in a certain time. I don’t remember the time, but it was generous. I was in pretty good shape but didn’t do any running (I cycled, lifted…) so I started running to improve my score on the Navy PRT run (our twice a year fitness test). I found the CH, got hooked, got led to Kick and got more hooked, and here we are!</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">2. What is your greatest accomplishment?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>I would have to say my Naval career. I have advanced and performed at an astonishing rate. Most at my level have been in for 12-15 yrs. I am very proud of that.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">3. What is your motto/theme song?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>Well, don’t know if it’s a motto so much as a philosophy: The strongest power we have is the choice of how we let things affect us. Sometimes I am pretty good at practicing it, other times I fail miserably.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">4. How do you deal with bad runs?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>I say, I listen to my body; if it is really not up to it, then so be it – try again later.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>No, nothing more than personal satisfaction.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">6. Who do you admire most?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>My late Grandmother. She essentially raised me, and was the wisest, kindest person I’ve ever known.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>From my engineering dept manager many years ago; “Darren, I’ve never heard of anyone lying on their death bed and saying ‘I wish I could have spent just a little more time at work’, go home.”</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">8. What do wish you had learned younger?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>That the Navy Seabees was the place for me!</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">9. What do you wish you could do but can't?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>Communicate telepathically with family and special friends. Written and verbal language is just to blunt a tool for true sharing of thoughts and feelings. To be able to “mind meld” with them, and truly share my would be beautiful.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">10. How would your friends describe your personality?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>Easygoing, quiet, thoughtful, funny.</b></span></span><br><br><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">11. What has been your favorite race?</span></span></b><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><b>It’s crazy I know – I haven’t run any.
