Well here it is, thanks to Grizzly for the chance to do this on the last day of 2007, and if you have questions PM me are leave comments here.

Thanks.

S99

1. Why do you run? At first like most people it was all about losing weight and running seem like a better option than walking. Now its my way of solving problems at work that seem to stump me. There’s nothing like a run where you can clear the clutter and be surprised at the avenues of problem solving options that elude you while at work.

2. What is your greatest accomplishment? I don’t know how to answer that question. By “greatest” seems to me like there’s nothing left for you to strive for. I have a number of personal accomplishments that I’m happy with (finishing ½ marathon, full marathon, being at the same same job for 24 years, luck to have some friends that I met through running, still able to get out at 3:30 AM for a run. I just feel my greatest accomplishment is still in front of me waiting to happen.

3. What is your theme song? For me . It's " Roll the bones " by Rush.

The chorus:

Well, you can stake that claim
Good work is the key to good fortune
Winners take that praise
Losers seldom take that blame
If they don't take that game
And sometimes the winner takes nothing
We draw our own designs
But fortune has to make that frame

We go out in the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances.

Roll the bones.

Why are we here?
Because we're here
Roll the bones
Why does it happen?
Because it happens
Roll the bones

Faith is cold as ice
Why are little ones born only to suffer
For the want of immunity
Or a bowl of rice?
Well, who would hold a price
On the heads of the innocent children
If there's some immortal power
To control the dice?

We come into the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances
Roll the bones

Jack...relax
Get busy with the facts
No zodiacs or almanacs
No maniacs in polyester slacks
Just the facts
Gonna kick some gluteus max
It's a parallax...you dig?
You move around
The small gets big
It's a rig
It's action...reaction
Random interaction
So who's afraid
Of a little abstraction?
Can't get no satisfaction
From the facts?
You better run, homeboy
A fact's a fact
From Nome to Rome, boy

What's the deal?
Spin the wheel
If the dice are hot...take a shot
Play your cards. Show us what you got
What you're holding
If the cards are cold
Don't go folding
Lady Luck is golden
She favors the bold
That's cold
Stop throwing stones
The night has a thousand saxophones
So get out there and rock
And roll the bones
Get busy!

Roll the bones

Why are we here?
Because we're here
Roll the bones
Why does it happen?
Because it happens
Roll the bones

3B. What is your motto? From Star Trek Deep Space Nine "The Visitor"

poke your head up every once in a while and take a
look around... see what's going on………………. It's life

4. How do you deal with bad runs? I don’t look at my runs as good runs or bad.

If I try to rush a run just to get a days run in I know I’m heading down a bad path. As a re-runner I try to keep the run simple and try to enjoy why I’m out there in the first place.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How? Its funny if I’m out testing some gear (safety light, new gloves, or a hat) I get pumped over that but reward like food not really.

6. Who do you admire most? There are four people I really admire, and have shaped me in some way and my world would be lost if I lost them. They are my Mom, my sister, and two members on this board (both female).

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received? Think about the next man down the line. This came from a former boss while working at Sears in receiving. His thought was to make the job easier for the next person down the line by going that little extra in whatever work you do. A rule I still live by and teach long after my Sears days have left me behind.

8. What do wish you had learned younger? That powered blue is not a good look (EVER) for me in a tux.

9. What do you wish you could do but can't? A foreign language

10. How would your friends describe your personality? Driven, offer advice, fair, generous, and while not on purpose funny.

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit? Clothing Under Armour Hats, gloves, tops, shorts, fleece tops Running Shoes Mizuno Cold Weather running shoes North Face.

12. What has been your favorite race? Cincinnati Flying Pig 5-14-2000 the race that started it all. Not so much for the running, but the friendships that were created.

13. Do you have a goal race right now? Not right now I still have one marathon race I like to do before closing that chapter in my running.

14. What makes you happy? Problem Solving,

15. Tell us some interesting things about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past. Was a member of Operation Desert Shield/Storm My first trip to Canada (summer 2001) was the first time I saw mountains in person. Had shoulder length hair in HS.

16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted (at least not often) on this forum in the past (make sure the other person will not object to posting the info!). did a marathon relay race (Winter 2001) in Myrle Beach with Jenna, some friends and her ex. We (Jenna & I) were perceived to be the slowest of the bunch so we were first & second in the relay (5-person). Well I ran the fastest 5 miles ever on a cold and really windy day, and Jenna with the wind in her face ran faster than expected, so fast her ex was still in the port-o-john as she was at the exchange point yelling out his name. Never under estimate the power of anger when others think you may not live up to lofty expectations

Thanks for sharing more of yourself with us, scorch99. 3:30 AM runs -- you are tough!

I believe it would benefit us all on this New Year's Eve day to see photographic evidence of the powder blue tux and shoulder length hair.
