My sons team was in the semi-final game last night for city championship. If none of you have ever had the opportunity to witness a team in the locker room, it's kind of a surreal setting. Locker room mentality starts at a young age. It's a place where the weak are preyed upon, but also a place where the weaknesses are accepted and worn on your sleeve like a badge of honour. It truly is a unique environment.

One 12-year-old is wearing a tierra. He's talking trash with the guys around him...none seem to be giving him too hard of a time about his head gear. I ask my son what that's about..."Andrew"? My son says "He has four different ones he wears". He carries on lacing up his skates without even looking up. That's it. No further explaination.

High test commardrie at it's finest.

Oh..the game? Goalie-boy was between the pipes and they won 5-1. The first time they've beaten this time all season. Now it's Thursday night for the final game against the same team.

I miss that

The thing about hockey locker rooms is that it doesn't seem to smell that bad if you start out in there with everyone else, but if you walk in from outside...whooof!

We had one kid on my team who had his lucky jersey...wouldn't wash it, even when his dog peed on it.

Love that part of my job - watching the various athletes (and I've seen all levels, high school to NFL) and their pregame routines. Can be quite funny one minute and a bit head-scratching the next.

and great game for goalie-boy.

Sounds too cool!

(although I was sorely disappointed at first opening this thread and not finding photos of grown male athletes in stages of undress. )

Good one, Torque!
My former-goalie BIL used to have some whacky hamburger-eating ritual....I need to call him and get the story again.
I think he also had some post-game ritual involving booze and loose wimmins.

So who's going to start a thread about pre-workout/pre-race/pre-game rituals of the PRT cyber family?

I'm to eskeered to start threads.
