Hi everyone,
Are you all out running today? It's another scheduled rest day for me today so I did 15 mins on the rower while waiting for my yoga class to start. It was pouring out this morning but seems like it's trying to clear up now.

Tomorrow's my 30 minute run - wish me luck! Then we may take a short hike with the dogs if the weather cooperates.

Have a great weekend,
5.25 miles for me then 1.15 hours in the gym. Now after I clean I am taking my new bike to the LBS to get pedals, she had me come by last night to make sure she had a pair of shoes I wanted before dragging the bike there.

I ran 6 miles in 1:12. I know it's slow. My training went in the [email protected] 3 1/2 weeks ago with some bursitis in my hip. It's now 6 hours post run and my hip/ leg bother me again. I'm getting a little depressed. I don't think I'll be able to do the half in Detroit like I was planning. We'll see how it feels tomorrow.

Anachro, did your dr. give any advice on the bursitis in your hip? Have you been icing it? That's something I still do. After a run, or any time I think it's particularly tender, I'll put on compression shorts and shove an ice pack in there, situated on the outside of my hip. I think it does help.

I got up early this morning and ran 4 miles in IRC. (It was a little chilly...I even had to break out the gloves). This was my farthest run post-bursitis. I saw some roads I haven't seen on foot in almost 5 months. It felt really good.

Not so many posters today. Oh well, have a great rest of the weekend.

Hi Masters!!

I did an easy 4.5 miles for my longest run so far.
4.54 miles
I took it easy and explored a new running trail I found in the neighborhood.
I'm 3 weeks past C25K and have been running every other day real consistently. 3 mile runs with one day each weekend extending my long by 1/2 mile each time. This week I took 2 days off because of work so ran my long run today and it felt really good. My 3 mile runs are getting easier and faster and I plan to continue to add to my long runs!

Way to go, Ken. Congrats on the longest run.

22.1 miles for me. At least now I feel I may actually get through Portland.

Last 5k were the fastest of the lot, finishing the final 2k sub 8m/m. Felt fine; no nap needed. Went to a birthday party for a friend I met running three years ago. Managed two beers but was the first to leave. Party hearty (or "hardy," if you prefer).

Labduck, how's the foot?

It seems to me that this may not be trochanteric bursitis. I've iced, but it didn't seem to help because my hip area does not hurt. It's all in my thigh down to my knee. I've iced that to no avail. The pain and weakness is the same but the location is different. I still have the low grade back pain. Perhaps my back is part of the problem.

This has got to be frustrating for you! Maybe you could just put a call into the doc and tell him or her (or the PA, if your doc has one) what's going on. Maybe your doc could prescribe some physical therapy, or give you a cortisone injection, or totally reconsider your diagnosis. It's probably worth a conversation, especially due to the back pain you're having.

I'm not a doctor, so I can only tell you what I experienced. When I was 1st diagnosed, I had no noticeable pain on the outside of my hip. (I was shocked when the MRI revealed trochanteric bursitis). Most of my pain was in the groin and very high inner thigh area. But the pain was so diffuse that it was really hard to pinpoint an exact spot, and it did seem to wrap around my entire hip joint. It wasn't until it was well on the way to healing that I got a pinpoint area of tenderness on the outside of my hip. (My back hurt on and off, but then that wasn't new for me as I've got a bad disc.)

One thing that did feel better was to sleep with a pillow between my knees.

Keep us posted, and I've got my fingers crossed for you. Hip bursitis is really a bear to get over.
