Crap. I got all my running gear together last night before I left to work.... everything but my watch. I had to drive home this morning to get it. I was kinda excited about todays run, hiting up a new 7 mile out and back.... not now. Too far to drive back there. Gonna have to squeeze my 18 in somewhere around here.

Hope you're able to get the runs in BBS and Chances.

Doesn't sound like too much fun Dan, rest up.

Had a nice run today. just five easy, but I feel almost 100% recovered from the marathon last Sunday. I'll still keep it light for a few weeks though since i don't have any races I care about for at least 6 months.

8 miles @ 8mpm pace. Felt OK. It had warmed into the upper 50s by the time I got out the door so my long sleeve was a big much. Oh well. I wore my HRM for the first time in a year or so. Seemed to average in the low 140s. No idea if that is OK - have to look out my old logs.

BBS - squeeze it out...

Chances - you can stop running now

Dan - thanks for the visual. Hope you feel better soon

Mailbox - nice job the recovery.

BBS--I know this sounds too simple, but did you consider running without the watch?

Dan--what are we going to do with you?

chances--enjoy the run later.

MBH--yah, just run because you want to. You've earned it.

Asics--nicely done.

Nuthin' here. Ran last evening so I didn't have to get up stupid early to run before work. Super psyched about tomorrow's marathon, and I'm not even running! Looking forward to seeing son1 and all my friends from church, plus all 15,000 of my closest friends.

Hey all,

22 miles (yes, Chances, exactly 22) in the books for today. I started from my house and ran all the way into DC, to the high school stadium where DW had just finished playing soccer with her women's team. All in all a very nice run. It got a little tough around 17 or so when I was on Rock Creek Pkwy near Kennedy Center. The winds off the Potomac were kicking my butt. Then in mile 19 came the massive hill climb, as tough as it looked on the topo map. But those are both elements I have to expect in New York so I welcomed the challenge. Now, though, time to protein reload and commence tapering!

Hawk -- 22.0000. Thank you! And what a run!

MBH -- Glad you're nearly recovered. I'm coming along, but still pretty shaky.

Asics -- low 140s for 8:00s sucks really bad. Stop before you hurt yourself.

6.0000 went fine. 8:06 pace. HR in the low 140s.

13.10000000 today, more or less.

I did a half marathon today and had a fun time. It's one of my favorite races. I was pleased to come in at 1:53:19 gun time. My PR is is 1:44:30, so it wasn't fast, but it was better than I hoped after a crappy summer. My quads are sore, now.

There were so many volunteers and spectators all along the course, it made for a fun race. About 2000 racers, but I never felt either crowded or too isolated. At mile five, there was an awesome drumline. I bet that mile was fastest, because it really pepped me up.

I got out early htis morning for 5 miles in 44:49(8:57). Went to the movie with my kids and now I am trying to find some results of cross country races with no luck. Nice job on all of the running, racing and relaxing.

Shadowing Hawk, I'll be running 22 miles tomorrow. 6 something recovery/slow miles for me today.

What a busy weekend for me, and it's only Saturday! I had drinks last night with this guy, Matt Long (link to a shameless plug there), and some of the Runners World crew. Went to the Parkway this morning to take pics of one the largest all women's events in PA and the 9th largest race in PA overall - a breast cancer event. I'm heading over to Amby's soon to shoot some photos of him in his Pheidippides costume and then snagging a spot along the race/parade route to look for loopy. Did he ever say if he was running the race or not? Wouldn't it be funny if he was dressed as Pheidippedes, too? Phew! Somebody beer me, please!

BBS, I second what 4bm said. Go without the watch. I've been doing all my recovery and easy runs without a watch and it has been great!

Way to go jebba!!!

Cool stuff, Jill, you sure have earned your beer - and more after the 22 tomorrow! Nice runs everyone and great job on the half jebba, sounds like a fun one.

0.0000 for me today. I got the spinal MRI results back and no problems with discs - which is a good thing - so the doc thinks it's a piriformis problem that I am having. The easy runs this week have all been somewhat uncomfortable, and while it might still improve with easy running I think my best bet is to take a break for at least a couple of weeks.

I'll be doing some PT and core/leg/hip strength stuff. Forced myself to do 45 minutes leg/hip/glute/core today. Also found a new yoga place near work where I can sign up for an 30-day introductory special, think I'll start that tomorrow. Would be nice to get back to 100% in November, hopefully in time for a turkey trot and/or some other short races.

Well I guess a piriformis diagnosis would totally make sense after all of the hamstring issues you've had. Hamstring injuries are the gift that keeps on giving ...

I saw loopy, he was dressed as a running gorgon (his avatar.)
