Good Morning All!

I've been off since the beginning of the week, so I need to catch up on the threads. But I did notice one title for Tammy's birthday - Happy Belated Birthday Tammy!!!

It was pretty chilly out this morning when I left - 18 degrees. I ran a turkey run on Thursday and my legs are still pretty sore - especially on the downhills today. I went around 5 miles. I took a different route today since I could hear gun shots in the distance. I didn't want to go near any fields. Not sure what they're hunting for, deer or pheasant? So I stuck to the well housed areas. I usually do not run on Saturdays this time of year and go on the nice, peaceful Sunday mornings. But since I did not run yesterday, I needed to get out.

Hey - the peanut butter jelly time banana made it to the smiley list!!!

ENJOY your day!

Good morning back at 'ya. I've been, euphamistically speaking, over indulging for the past two days. Yesterday I ran 2 miles and felt like I was gonna die - everything hurt, legs felt like a thousand pounds each, etc. Today was better - I did 1/2 of a killer yoga class because I had to rush out and go to work afterwards. So I feel good that at least I got in 30 mins of hard work before I sit on my butt for most of the day at the reference desk of my library.

Tomorrow should be a good run for me, while DH does a spin class.

Have a great day,
nippy morning here in paradise, but the sun is shining brightly.......Schedule calls for 12 miles today, but I'm going to swap weekend workouts and do the 12 tomorrow. Got a doubleheader of Vol sports on tv today with football early, and basketball late...I'll head out for a few easy miles in between contests just to get my orange blood circulating.

Hi Pink, Susan, ks, Pie.

I was out at dawn today in a crisp 28 degrees. I ran 7 of a planned 10, cutting it short after I decided the aches and pains from Thursday's race were getting worse and not better. I may take a few days off.

Now we're headed to the big football game (BYU vs Utah). Go Cougars!

I hope you have a good weekend.

Good Morning

Hey Pink! We've all be a bit distracted with other things this week. Now it's wind down Saturday.

My reverse taper is conflicting with my half marathon next weekend. As a compromise I'm upping my miles a bit but keeping it easy.. I guess
I think I'll do 15 tomorrow and see how it feels after.

We went for the last of our big family walks, this time without DW who rode home with one of the sisters to go to the OU bedlam game. I won't even mention the name of the other team. But I'm quickly becoming an SEC fan so I'm with you, tomwhite, go Vols. As long as we're not talking women's basketball. It was pretty nippy out there to just be walking, 45. I would have really enjoyed running just to warm up but I behaved myself. Yesterday I forgot to mention the cold because I was just so happy to be flying down the hills on the bike but it was 36 and my toes were frozen by the time I got back. I remembered last night when I also felt the after-effects of going for a long ride when I don't even own a bike-the tendons that connect the hip to the quads were ouchy.

Downstairs to eat a big helping of cornbread crock pot dressing. Mmmm. I lost 2 pounds yesterday, back down to 148!

Hey Grommit, my son lives near you! He's a sometimes runner; he teaches inorganic chem at McGill. Lately he's been into playing hockey instead of running.

13.5 EZPZ km around and about the Oak Bay waterfront: it will be my last moment for myself until the last dishes are washed and put away tonight.

Hey all, home from Mom's, left early instead of running and it was less traffic so that was a smart move. But now I don't want to do anything but sit in front of my broadband and drink beer and watch TV. I will get back on track tomorrow.

Gordon, how is your friend? That was scary!!

Good afternoon everyone.

Gordon, I hope your friend is feeling better.

Susan, I can relate to sitting on your butt at the ref desk. Those hours can be deadly dull sometimes. Although, the other day we had to call security because some guy using one of the computers had his pants pulled way down and everyone could see his entire behind as well as other things. He was issued a no-trespass.

Millbot, sounds like a smart move to cut your run short. Take care.

I got in 9 breezy miles with pal Jen. Temps were in the high 20s but with the 22-26 mph gusts it was a bit chilly at times. Luckily, the sun helped warm us. MrC had hot cocoa waiting for us when we got back. What a nice guy he is!

Plank work:
1 x 1 min straight arm forward
1 x 1 min straight arm side (done on each side with top foot raised parallel to the floor)
1 x 1 min straight arm reverse

Reverse planks are my faves. Should've probably held them longer but my wrists are hurting today.

I have gone nuts with cooking this weekend. I made the big T-Dinner on Thursday for 10 people, served 9 people a yummy steak dinner last night, and I've got a pot roast cooking in the oven for tonight's dinner. My husband is in a state of shock as normally I don't do much cooking since I'm home alone so much.

ETA: I think we need to send Sal over to CR to kick some beehind today.

I haven't posted to any forums as perhaps I should - been fighting the blues since the my hip bursitis put me out of commission for a couple of months and then lack of motivation set in. I've been trying to run consistently, but i have been failing until now. I'm glad to say this week has been a little more consistent. 3 mile runs on Tuesday, Thursday, and today - on the treadmill no less (just can't deal with cold wind). Yah !

Went for a morning run with Coach Johnny. Nice easy run. I think we did somewhere between 6.5 - 6.6 miles. I'm sure after the game is over (Oregon vs UCLA) he'll chime in with our stats. I don't remember them exactly.

Go Ducks! (although my son is cheering on UCLA right now - I think just to be obstinate because he knows I want the Ducks - so he's gotta be the opposite!)

I just read the daily over at CR - good grief! where's the eyerolling smiley?

<Drool> and <envy> over all your runs!

GolfnSki, welcome! Did I see that you ran the Stockholm marathon? I'd be interested in your thoughts. Is it in the fall? Stockholm is beautiful then. I ran Copenhagen in '99. Too darn many fit Scandihoovians though.
Gordon, scary stuff about your friend. I hope they can find what's wrong and fix it. BTW, I like your plans.
mill, smart move. Hi, Pink! Looking forward to hearing about JJJ's race too, pie.
choovie, you are a force! Planks and marathon cooking.
Well, four weeks down, less than two to go. I celebrated on the rowing machine.

10k+ incl 5x500m with 2-min rest. - avg. 2:09.7, 29 s/m (Damper: 3)
5 minutes various planks, ab work, bosu, stretching, PT exercises
12 chin-ups (one hand facing out, one in)
1-hour walk still to come

Opie, do you use the variable interval setting on the erg? So much more fun and challenging that way. I'm going to try that w/o next week with solarmix2 and see what happens ; I feel I can do a lot better.

I've probably lost a lot of aerobic fitness, but I feel so strong from the rowing and additional exercising, if I find a wee kid in my way when I'm back racing, They.Are.Toast.

Good luck to Soundie and Econo and all those in Seattle tomorrow.
