Is everyone hung over from last night or something?? I am going to be leaving for my race in about 20 minutes. Have a great morning. It looks like it is going to be WINDY here at least through the morning. Weather.com is reporting 15 mph winds with gusts to 21,

We are having an honest to goodness blizzard here.

It has been snowing since 8 am yesterday.

They have just issued a level 3 snow emergency meaning that you are subject to arrest if caught driving unless it is an emegency.

Which means that for the second time in my 23 three year postal career......SNOW DAY!

Good morning. I'm making some tea and getting ready to head into the lab. I kept tossing and turning this morning and had labwork-anxiety dreams. Hopefully none of that will actually happen!

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

Of course, you must remember that I live right on the border of Kentucky.

We don't get the kind of snows Vermont gets and are not as prepared to deal with the 14-15 inches we have.

This will come very close to our biggest snow ever......

I can't tell where the lawn ends and my street begins.

I doubt I could get very far past my driveway

Yesssss!

And yet I feel strangely guilty....

That rain and snow and gloom of night stuff gets beat into you after so many years.

But...it's freaking dangerous out there.

Visibility ain't too good either.

those giant storms are scary for even those of us who are used to 'em....take care not to hurt-strain-break anything while trying to clear the driveway

Do you have enough food and BEER on hand to help you get thru the weekend?
Do you have a set of skis or snowshoes or a snowmobile to get to the grocery for brewski stock-up emergency trips?

Thanks! So far (fingers crossed) things seem to be working fine. And I haven't lost my pants, so the dream hasn't come true yet.

I'm analyzing nutrients in water that's been sucked out of the soil. The machine I use is pretty slow. I made this deal with someone else who wants to use it today, so I'm in here early trying to finish everything up by early afternoon.

I'll try to keep you updated/posted on Troll#1's choices for summer internships.
He'll be home for spring break in a couple of weeks, and I'll know more at that time.

fwiw, I think he's leaning towards the journalism side of his field.

I feel badly that I can't help with ideas for him....my expertise is certainly NOT in the current eco-bio areas.

Please do let me know! For some reason I have it in my mind that Voodoojunkie is an environmental journalist. Anyway, having a good science background is important for that field. I think there are a couple of different journalism programs that are geared towards that (ah yes, CU-Boulder has one: http://www.colorado.edu/journalism/cej/). I had an ex-boyfriend who went to journalism school after a few years in science. I vaguely remember when he was looking into this stuff.
