A bit ahead of the game. I had 4 miles planned for Saturday but I'm not running them, or at least not here in Calgary. Some glute soreness, and I'm tired. Nothing to be gained. Flying out mid-morning.

And so... thanks for all the good wishes. I'll see you on the back side of the weekend.

I'm a legit Saturday poster. Went to the movies with Finn our German jumper kid and ate out and saw the Spideyman flick. Pretty good, now I just gotta get up in 6 hours for work...

Well so much for taking it easy after a meet, I felt pretty good anyways so I didn't mind. 2:30 timed run and ran about an 830m. Farthest yet but I felt like poop since I only had one warmup lap before that. The next part of the workout I was ready for now. I was told 8x400 so I was gonna set this up like a race. Progressively, ran 1:23, 1:17, 1:17, 1:15, 1:12, 1:12. Here he said we ran hard so we were done, but no rest for the weary right? I stuck to my plan and did the last 2 alone. Second to last one too hard, 1:06, last one a bit slower but great form and felt pretty good in 1:09. Nice thing is we did this on the grass and away from the track. It's real close to 1/4 mile too, so pretty accurate times, maybe add a second...we'll see how the legs feel later this morning after I actually sleep.

Carpe diem, Grizzly. And oh, run well tomorrow too!

Today's run: 3 miles easy, cooled-down with 4x strides.

I have a time goal in mind for tomorrow's race, but at a minimum, I'll be happy to finish with a fun training run. Not placing a ton of pressure here. I hope I run into some of the other Kickrunners, although the Flying Pig is becoming hugely popular--I expect a large field.

Return home Sunday night and hope to tell the tale on Monday.
OW!

I don't know what walking around and watching a movie does to your legs but apparently it kills them. Now way up at the top of my left calf is super and my Achille's/lower calf on the right are back to being super tight. Just getting out of bed felt like it was gonna do something bad. I hate having stuff wrong with me and not being able to fix it.

Most likely it was yesterday's workout but I don't get why it would kill me so much. I miss the injury free days before I started all this hardcore running stuff...I am in quite the slump.

Got to the big city last night OK. Met my daughter at the airport where she was sleeping on an airport bench, waiting for me. Three hours difference from here to Toronto, so it was 1 AM her time!

Jen and I went out for an easy 5k. It was easy for her....29 min for me. That's about 30 sec slower than I plan for the first 5k of the race. Felt OK though, so I think running at sea level will be easier than on the TM at 3300 feet. We are off to the runner's expo, where we will meet up with the Griz for a spot of lunch later today.

Good runs all!

I ran 16 miles this morning as the weather continues to warm up. I finished nice and strong with my last mile coming in at 6:53 (rest of the miles were in the 8:20-8:50 range).

Looking forward to Grizzly's report on tomorrow's marathon.

An easy 5.25 miles. I was pleased by the time based on my easy effort. Going for 12 tomorrow and I'm looking to push it in the latter miles. Chilly, clear morning. 48F.

10.5 miles on the bike path this morning. I'll refrain from commenting on the guy who almost knocked me off the path and into the water because he was riding his bike very fast with his head down and talking on his cell phone.

Sorry you had to deal with many of the r-tards of the world today rhody. Glad you're all right.

Went to the shoe place and she commented on how I am a pretty neutral runner with slight over-pronation and gave me soem excellent stretches for my calves. Good thing she didn't try to sell us naything or my parents would have gone for it. She thinks I need less of a performance shoe (Speedstars) but my feet are fine, just tight calves after hard workouts.

Her thing is make a little inclined wedge and stand on it for minutes at a time. I used the one in the store and it felt great. Me and dad off to go build one.

3 hours trails.

Cured what ailed me.

Also: olfactory delights. Apple blossoms, honeysuckle blossoms, and violets blooming.

And a hawk that let me take his picture while he kept on eye on me. I'll post it later if it turned out okay.

I just got a funny mental image of that hawk carrying you off into the sky.

I guess it wouldn't be funny to you.

Recovery/crosstrain day ... 4.5 miles, easy pace, on the freakin' treadmill at the gym after an iron-pumping frenzy. I don't do the treadmill thing often, but that's the way it was. Felt like it took forever.
