Up and at 'em peeps! Or, maybe in a couple more hours at least.

Got bored at work so I decided to go ahead and start it early today

I will head to the Greenline for an easy 12 here shortly.

Apple- my Avatar is actually Blackbeard the pirate's flag. I have a few guys at the running group calling me blackbeard since, well, I have a black beard. And about the baby, the doc said they would discuss inducing at the next visit, so, maybe sometimes next week?

Morning BBS, just saw your FB post and it sounds like you had a tough one. But you got it done and that's what counts.

Late start for me after sleeping in a bit tthen taking my time with breakfast. But I'm heading out now. Still humid here but quite as hot as it's been. 14 or so miles, that's the plan.

Happy running all.

BBS/Hawk - enjoy the longer runs

Soldier Field 10 mile race this morning. Realistically I was thinking a 67 minute effort but wanted a sub 66. As expected, it sucked Just glad I finished! It sums up a crappy month for running and it does not bode well for a HM in two weeks... may be running that with DW.

Anyway, my lungs were burning at mile 3... so I slowed from 6:30mpm to 6:40s... the pain went away but I couldn't go any faster. In mile 5, my double knotted laces came untied on one foot. WTF! Lost 30 seconds there. First half was into the wind so I figured a tail wind would help me... not really. It was a struggle to maintain 6:45s for the back half.

Splits:

6:32, 6:31, 6:31, 6:47; 7:07 (shoe laces)

Split: 33:28

6:41, 6:44, 6:49, 6:46, 6:42

Finish: 1:07.08,

My time is almost the same as last year. My buddy's 12 yr old kid smoked my ass with a sub 65, Still, thankfully he didn't beat my 10 mile PR - that will happen soon.

I walked around the lake with a friend yesterday and realized how much I missed running there! So today when I laced up the shoes, that's where I headed. Crushed limestone with a short section on the paved bike path.. I enjoy it because it's just runners so I can really let my mind wander. Steady long run, and steady it was! Lap times of 10:40, 10:27, 10:28, 10:25, 10:30, 10:28. Total 7.06m, 1:03, 8:56pace.

First tri of the season is next week. Still haven't decided if I'm going to do it or not. Just not feeling ready for it. Then, do I do the Sprint series or the Oly? Or do I even race at all this season? So many doubts...

Trail run done and a humid sweatfest it was. I ended up with 13.2 miles only because I was determined to at least cover the distance of next week's race. Once I did I was happy to call it a day.

RA - sorry the race wasn't what you hoped for. I had the same type of result at Broad Street after much anticipation. It wasn't my day but I gutted it out, and so did you today. Nice job.
