No run reports yet?

I did 15 miles with the last 3 suposed to be at race pace. For whatever reason, today I was cruising comfortably at ~:30 faster than both my easy pace and goal MP throughout the run. I felt fantastic! Either the taper is working almost instantly or it's the Gatorade Endurance I finally got around to alternating with Gu/waters. I feel like a Newbie again never having done long runs that way.

While I ran I thought about meri and Durt in the mud. I'm awaiting their reports!

I ran the Fort Yargo 1/2 marathon trail run this morning. Not sure what I think about my performance on the trail run. There were pluses and minuses 2:04:56. Race report will follow this afternoon after I'm back from errands.

It must have worked, cuz they were able to pull one outta their collective arses and win by 2.

10 mile race today and I got a PR (except for an unofficially timed first 10 miles of a half marathon last year). I did 12 miles total including warmup and cooldown.

WOW!

Details, I want details... (not the sick stuff Kevin, hope you don't mind) but about all the races.

Some mighty fine running going on here.

Congrats to rhody and reb. Looking forward to the reports.

Hats off to SGH and aphi for the miles.

wtpj - can I hire you to curse at my sports teams?

Bill - good job in braving the weather.

I didn't have to brave nothing except the wind. Chinook has blown in, and I got a shorts run in, temps up near 50f with a strong wind gusting to 50.

7 miles total with 7x100 strides.

eq: continue healing.

I did about an hour on the treadmill, alternating between slow easy run and power-hiking at maximum incline. (My cheapo treadmill doesn't tell me the % incline, I just hold the up arrrow until it stops grinding).

I watched the History channel and learned lots of cool stuff about Rameses.

Wow. Agree with Grizzly--good runs today!

Easy 60 minute run this afternoon. Ran 5x strides on my all-time favorite surface: The "field-turf" HS football field in the town-next-door. Now if they could only make a road like this surface, we'd all have happy muscles and joints.

I also like the football field at full strider speed while imagining scoring a breakaway touchdown!

Tomorrow is a 1/2 marathon with no expectations.

"He maketh His angels WINDS and His ministers flames of fire."

(cue music "Chariots of Fire"

9 miles.

First 3 miles straight into 20mph winds. Wide open terrain--along river banks and on the levee; here in the city, but felt like country. Had it all to myself except for a couple on bicycles...and those angels whirling all around, stirring up the entire cosmos it seemed...

Not a bad day for mid-afternoon running: Bright and sunny, 53F, and WIND!

When the wind was at my back after mile 3, I was a sailboat. Easy running, and glad for it to be. When you feel that way, it's hard to go slow. The wind, the solitude, the afternoon sun...it all seemed right, but at the same time "ominous"--like big things were in the works, important questions were being decided somewhere, fates of nations hanging in the balance--

and I'm out here running, having a great time.

Saw more people afoot after mile 6, where the Trinity Trail began to run crossways to the wind. People smiling. People running, walking, alone, in pairs. Nothing wrong here; all's well with the world...

But oh! were there ever tidings in the wind...

Go Ray!

I hope you don't mind that I snipped a bit. I love the part I boldfaced above. Have you seen the Wim Wenders film Wings of Desire?

Where is that first line from?

Haven't seen Wings of Desire or heard of it. What's it about? I might want to go rent it.

The first line of my post quoted Psalm 104:4.

Oh, and there was that lunar eclipse this evening too...
the ancients considered those to be harbingers of important changes...

I'll let Roger Ebert speak for me in regards to Wings of Desire. What you wrote made me think of the film. I should put this in a private message I guess, but I want everyone to know about this wonderful movie. Everyone!

http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/...1010374%2F1023
