I am meeting a couple buddies for 9 miles on the trails this morning, then I'll have to rush home to go to bed... Yep, gotta go in early at work again. I am going to make more money than I intended on this year...

BBS - enjoy the group 9. Nice roomy SUV for the family.

kfuller - good luck with the 8k

I think we need a new bed as I feel like crap. Anyway, will try to get in a short run this morning - will try to get DD in the BOB. It's looking stormy this afternoon through tomorrow. Could be a wet and just plain humid the the race in the morning. Yeah, perfect conditions for a 10k...

Nice and easy 5k 'race' organized by a guy from my health club which consisted of him, me and one other guy. I was originally going to run the couple of miles to his house and back, but wound up just driving over and ran the 3.1 miles with them at around 10 min pace. Felt good, just what my legs needed in advance of 14 planned for tomorrow.

Good luck with the race kfuller and have a good one, all.

Good morning everyone. Todays race was called the Crack of Dawn 8k. It started at 6 a.m. Just as the sun was coming over the mountains. The race starts 8k up what is called millcreek canyon. So the elevation goes from about 6100 ft. down to 4900 at the finish. So at points it is not as super steep as it seems.

A bit after 6 the race started with a nice small crowd of 100 give or take. The person who would win the race in 26:?? shot of the starting line, my brother started out in 2nd. I started out conservatively and was in about 10 place in the beginning. A few people passed me and then I passed them back. As the race progressed I saw that I was in 8th place. I hit the 5k at 20:05. All I was looking to do was beat my time from last year. I could see three people in front of me. The first place female was in my sights. I was having flashbacks from last year as the top 2 females took off and were in front of me almost the whole race until I reeled in and passed the #2 female. I thought I had a shot at doing the same this year. There is a toll/fee booth for the canyon near the end of the race and just after this point I was cruising and I passed the top female. I saw two men in front of me and I was feeling good. As we turn on to the main road it is uphill at this point to the finish. Turning on to the road I pass both men and make a good hard charge to the finish to finish 5th overall.

They only give out medals to first overall men/women. Then top 3 in age group get awards. I managed to get first, just like I did last year in the 30-39 AG.

Overall

31:24 (6:19)

5th overall 1st AG

The medal is a huge, round and made of glass. I am very pleased with this race. I just wonder why I can't put this kind of performance together in my 5k races. Now my calves, shoulders etc.. are sore.

Nice job on all the running, racing etc.. today

kfuller - awesome result! Congratulations on the great time and AG win!

zrun - so, no 5k PR then? Did you at least sprint for the win?

Got out for 4.5 miles with DD In the BOB. Out = screaming. Back = quiet. 70F and sunny. Feels like I just ran a marathon. Oh boy. Just plain tired...

Hey guys,

Having kind of a lazy Saturday so far. Was out late at the movies last night, then slept poorly for a while until finally dropping into deep sleep. Woke up close to noon groggy. Still feeling that way 3 hour later as I run some overdue errands - getting my car's oil changed at the moment. Had a long bike ride planned for today but I may push it back to tomorrow.

Car's done. Gotta go...
