First tri of the season - a super fun day! It's the Castaic Lake tri - distances are 400/10/3. It's a really low key race - no chip timing, no swim caps handed out, no frills. Just good clean fun.

Swim: Did a really solid warm up, then for some reason, kinda freaked out a bit at the start of my wave. Finally got into a groove, and my goggles kept leaking. It was actually kinda funny. So, just kept going ended up with 6:45 swim time (per the guy calling out times on the shore). Based on my time, I think the swim was short - I'm pretty solid at 2:00/100 in open water.

Bike: Nice course, felt good the whole time, stayed over 18 mph till the hill. :) Average was 16.6 or something - need to look back at my computer. Despite a malfunction with the right cleat - I think one of the screws came loose - it was still a fun ride.

Run: Scenic, mostly flat run around the lake. I love this race mostly because the people are all so cool. Everyone is really encouraging and supportive especially on the run. Just makes for a great last leg of the race.

I think my finish was about 1:12 or so...forgot my watch and I'm not sure when results will be posted. But it was just such a fun day and if the time is correct, I improved about 3 minutes over the last time I did this race (2003). A great day all in all!

Me - 4000m in the pool at masters this morning, then roughly 71 miles on the bike. Hot out there today, quite the adjustment from up north.

Finished up the day watching a local crit and then catching up on the Tour. Good day.

Did a 2 mile swim race. 2 miles my azz. 1:54.

Best guess is it was 3.3. Some people say 2.6, some 3.6. Whatever it was, it was longest swim ever. 82 degrees, so no wetsuit. I felt "ok" but not great. Ok, so I did an Ironman 13 days ago, I shouldn't expect much! @ 3.3 that's 34:30 pace/mile which is still pretty far off my normal of around 30/mile. Good times though, got to see TONS of people I knew.

LIT meetup w/ J9 and Archelon for dinner. Archelon was coming through from NY. Good times!

60 mile A ride turned into 31 mile AN ride. My partner for the last 30 bagged on me via text at 17 miles into my first 31. Disappointed with not getting in full 60. I know I still have time but I an neurotic about checking off boxes. Watched the DVR of the day's stage of the tour. Horner was on our fantasy team and is now out. Some awful crashes out there.
