Morning runners.

Gonna be a hot one here today, forecast calling for a high of 103*. Perfect race conditions. There's no way I'm doing this race next year. I really didn't want to do it this year, but it just landed well on my schedule for a tune-up race. I ran this race last year in 20:46, but the conditions were a whole lot more favorable. I'm just kinda hoping to survive out there today, but a sub 21 would be super nice.

Good luck to all the other racers today!

BBS - good luck in the furnace.

Friggin' monsoon with lightening here. Highways flooded. Eventually got close to to the race site and my buddy called and said to turn back. Great! That's $40 flushed down the toilet. Who knows if I can get a workout in today. Very (very) annoyed.

BBS--hope your race went well.

Asics--not understanding. Did they call the race?

Dan--easy does it.

Up and out the door by 6am when it was already 80*. Run was decent, legs actually felt really good at points. However, once the sun came up it really heated up. At one point I started to feel chilled. Uh, that's not a good sign. I ended up shutting it down at 9m and walked in the last 2.

I'm test wearing Brooks Adrenalines and was really disappointed with them today. Just no pop in the shoes, felt like they needed replaced even though I've only had them about a week. Once back home I realized why. I had gotten dressed in the dark and put on a pair of retired Adrenalines. Oh......

Yes, the race was called. Lightening was not going away and the trail was too flooded, even for a modified course.

Off to go help some family move for a few hours, then hopefully I can get back to the garden, mow the lawn, and do a heap of dishes. Have a great weekend everyone!

RA - So, no refund?

Went out and did R7W3 for 30. Tired so I did them as slow as possible. Beautiful morning. Clear blue skies and 56. Wish you guys had some of this weather. Still, will be in the 80's today.

Got up early this morning to drop my brother off at the start of the 10k race. Then I headed to the finish and ran around the park. Ther is a wood chip path or the sidewalk to run on and each is 1.4 miles. I ended up with 5.2 miles. The races were good the 10k was won in a low 27 minutes and the marathon was a very exciting finsh with the second place guy out sprinting the other runner to win. It was the loudest crowd I have heard at a finish before. They ran a tough course in 2:20. I may now be tired for the rest of the day.

RA-- Bummer on the race.

Dan- NIce job getting out there.

Alex- Have fun today.

Now I think I am going to a family gathering of my wifes family 1 hr away.

WHew, I am glad the race is over. It was a 3.3 mile 5k. I don't know what the temp was when we started, but it's 91 now. I gave up and walked some of the hills, so finished in about 28:30.

This was our running club's annual picnic and awards ceremony. We have a Grand Prix where you get points for your top six races and for volunteering. I got first in my age group for the year and got a very nice beach towel that says, "Nashville Striders Grand Prix 2009-2010" on it withour logo. Sweet! I also got a water bottle and had enough volunteer tokens to get a nice wicking hat.

It's supposed to get up to 99* today, and we have an outdoor birthday party to go to. I wish I had an ice vest.

Morning all while it's still just barely morning...

RA - that sucks about the race. Hope you get something in

BBS - survival sounds like the word of the day. Similar temps here.

Dan - nice and easy

4bm - funny story. I 'm pretty sure I've done similar things.

Kevin - have fun at the races

Alex - nice medium run ;)

As for me, I have 14 easy miles planned and they will be on the TM so I can do them whenever and not worry about the heat outdoors. I made this call a few days ago when I saw the forecast. We were out late at the Dave Matthews concert last night so I wasn't eager top get up early anyway.

RA - That sucks, hopefully you can get something in today. Whoever talked you into this owes you one :)

I got there around 7:10 and there was a guy at the parking lot telling everyone it had been called. The rain had started to calm down a bit, and I drove to a different forest preserve by me and did a 10.7 miler in medium to light rain. Low 70s and a little humid but not as bad as I thought it would be. There were a few downed branches on the path, and I improvised a bit on my planned route to avoid some standing water at around 4 miles. Legs felt good clicking off 8min miles and I picked it for miles 7-10 to 7:30s. Shame about the race.

BBS - hope your race went well

4boysmom - that's funny about the shoes, the new ones feel better!

Alex - have a good run #2

Well, I didn't get that sub-21, about a minute more than that! I finished with a lack-luster 21:56. There was noone in front or behind me by a .25 mile either way the last 2 miles of the course... I had no push, really didn't have any desire to today either, so I kinda coasted. I know I could have done better. But, I did somehow manage to swipe 1st place in my AG and was 9th OA. I think all of the fast people were to smart to run in 100+ degree weather. I also ran into a guy I graduated with and he just started getting into running, so we exchanged #'s and are gonna do some runs together here and there. So in all, the day was actually a plus. I kinda hate that the 1st time this year I get 1st in my age group was a run I didn't even try that hard for, and was one of my slower times for the year, but oh well. It was just a tune-up race.

Nice jobs out there everyone.

BBS glad to hear you did the run and got a possible new running partner.

Today I went out at 8am and by end of fist mile i was soaked. walked/run another 2.5 and called it a workout. I think I should have weighed myself before and after the run to see if I lost any weight.

Good day all.
